Lars Ulrich isn't taking any chances with his label, The Music Company; He is covering all the bases. From his nu-metal superhero's Systematic to his alt-pop rockers Goudie and now he is looking to give Lenny Kravitz a run for his money with the release of "Tragic Show" from Brand New Immortals.

The Lenny Kravitz comparisons are inevitable. Vocalist, David Ryan-Harris, sounds like a cross between Kravitz and Living Color's Corey Glover. However, the overall sound of the music is diverse, ranging from funky hard rock to hip-hop, funk and R&B; all delivered with a nice rock undercurrent. It's the perfect blend of these various styles that we have come to expect from Lenny Kravitz as the leading artist in the Sly Stone school of music. Brand New Immortals just prove that this is a winning formula and that the marriage between rock & funk is timeless.

The songs are well crafted, each exploring different musical roads while remaining memorable and providing catchy melodies. David Ryan-Harris soulful vocals carry the songs while the rest of the band don't rest on his laurels.

The most impressive aspect of this album is the production; multi-layered instrumentation and vocals that harkens back to Phil Spector's "Wall of Sound".

Brand New Immortals deliver an impressive debut and they were a great choice for Lars to sign to his label. The music is there, now we have to see if the public has enough taste to give it a try.
