With "Who Wants to Play Bass" Indie, alt-country and college music fans have a cool new CD to add to their collection. It's classic alternative rock with a slight country underpinning that lands somewhere between REM and "Candy from a Stranger" era Soul Asylum, packed with lots of guitars and compelling melodic vocal lines. It really varies between the country influence (Confession / Jeffson) and the classic guitar alternative rock (Soccer Song) which helps keep it from becoming tedious.

"Who Wants to Play Bass" is definitely a quality release, it is surprising that Armchair Martian hasn't been picked up by a major label yet as the music has a certain wide audience appeal. But for now you can just as easily get your hands on the CD through the Santa Barbara, Ca indie label, My Records.
