What I love about Green Day is they really have the ADD approach to song structure down pat: verse, chorus, verse, end of song. That's why although Shenanigans has a lengthy track listing, it is just a little over a half an hour long.

Shenanigans, as some of you may already know, is the B-side counterpart to their recently released Best-Of collection, "International Superhits!" When you think "B-sides," you naturally think "throwaway tracks that aren't fit for an album." Sure, there are a couple of those present, but for the most part, this collection shows that in their prime, Green Day simply couldn't write a bad song.

Highlights include the awesome first single "Desensitized (a 'Nimrod' era throwaway)," the Austin Powers' instrumental "Espionage," the surprisingly faithful Kinks' cover of "Tired of Waiting for You," and the new studio cut "Ha Ha You're Dead."

For die-hards who simply couldn't shell out the dough for all the singles, soundtracks, etc., picking this up is a no-brainer. For the casual fan, "Shenanigans" still holds it's own as a collection of strong music. Now guys, when are you going to stop stalling and release the follow-up to the excellent "Warning" album?
