Chris Brown Had Violent Incidents With Rihanna Before The Beating
antiMusic reports: As we touched on yesterday when we reported on Chris Brown not having to serve any jail time for beating Rihanna, a probation's officer report came to light which documented two other incidents "related to domestic violence" with Rihanna.

The Los Angeles Times details those two incidents: The first incident allegedly occurred about three months earlier, in Europe, when Brown and Rihanna were in a "verbal dispute," according to the report, which cited detectives investigating the case. She slapped him and Brown responded by shoving her into a wall, the report alleged.

Three weeks before the February incident, Brown and Rihanna were in Barbados, driving a Range Rover lent to them by a local dealership when they had an argument inside the car, according to the report. Brown got out and broke both the front driver and passenger side windows, the report alleged. No one was injured. - Read more at LA Times.com

Reba Tops Strait But May Be Beat By Colbie Caillat
antiMusic reports: Don't look for consistency at the top of the Billboard charts this summer. Last week's no. 1, has been unseated and this week's no. 1 looks like she will be unseated herself.

Billboard reported on Wednesday that: Reba McEntire's "Keep On Loving You" enters at No. 1 with 96,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Last week's No. 1, George Strait's "Twang," slides to No. 2. see article

But Reba shouldn't get comfortable up there at the top as Billboard also reported that: Colbie Caillat is on track to score her first No. 1 album next week with her sophomore release "Breakthrough." Industry prognosticators predict that the Universal Republic set may sell in the neighborhood of 90,000 to 100,000 copies in its first week. - more on that

One Be Lo Sets Early 2010 Release
Audible Treats reports: MYX Music Label is proud to announce the signing of One Be Lo for his newest album, B.A.B.Y. The album, set for a February 2010 release, includes features from Royce Da 5'9, Freeway, Zion I, Phonte, Jean Grae, and more.

The partnership with the Bay Area label is a new step for One Be Lo, and one the Pontiac, Michigan emcee looks forward to. One Be Lo says, "I'm excited to get MYX Music Label involved with this next album - it already feels more like a family than a business. I've recorded and toured with Karim in the past, so I know he understands the artist perspective. MYX is an up-and-coming label that understands how to market records in today's media." One Be Lo's new album, B.A.B.Y. (an acronym meaning Being A Black Youth), is not only autobiographical of the rapper as a youth in Pontiac Michigan, but focuses on the many experiences in school, amongst peers, family, the army, crime, and much more all across America, and is a multi-media project encompassing music, film, books, clothing, and toys.

For MYX Music Label head Karim Panni, signing One Be Lo is also an exciting development and a welcome addition as the label continues to assert itself as one of the premier, rising independent hip-hop labels. Panni says, "We're honored to be able to add One Be Lo to the MYX Music Label squad. B.A.B.Y. is a gigantic record, and Lo is making the most important music of his career. His grind and track record speaks for itself. We're really trying to build up a roster of people making great music - hip-hop that can stand the test of time. Music that makes a difference, and One Be Lo fits that mold." - more on this story

Rock Hall Inducted Producers Tribute The Dells' Johnny Carter
PR reports: Legendary producers and recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, who brought Philadelphia soul music ("The Sound of Philadelphia") to "people all over the world," reacted this morning to the death last weekend of doo-wop pioneer Johnny Carter, who recorded with Philadelphia International Records as a member of The Dells.

Carter, whose falsetto tenor also was heard as a founding member of The Flamingos, died Friday in his hometown of Harvey, IL, after a long battle with lung cancer. He was 75. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Aug. 30 at Bethlehem Temple, 20 East 147th St., Harvey, IL 60426, at 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. CST., in conjunction with Holts Funeral Home, also in Harvey.

Carter joined Gamble & Huff in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, inducted twice as a member of The Dells and The Flamingos. "The Dells have been together 58 years, and they really go way back with us, too," said Gamble & Huff in a joint statement. "We've always looked at them as some of the key innovators of Rhythm & Blues, and Johnny Carter, was especially innovative, because of his earlier tenure with the Flamingos, which also was an excellent group. We considered him to be one of the best tenors ever in Rhythm & Blues, with an absolutely superb voice. Not only us, but a lot of people will be sad about his leaving." - more on this story

Bebel Gilberto Sets Release
PR reports: Brazilian vocalist Bebel Gilberto's new recording All In One will be released September 29 on Verve. Known worldwide for her ability to connect modern sounds with the heart and soul of Brazilian music, the New York-born Gilberto focuses on the rhythms of her native country, devising a cosmopolitan yet classic sound with the help of a diverse group of collaborators, including Carlinhos Brown (Caetano Veloso), Didi Gutman (Brazilian Girls), Mark Ronson (Amy Winehouse), Daniel Jobim (grandson of Antonio Carlos Jobim) and John King (the Dust Brothers).

All In One perfectly expresses Gilberto's interest in making music that feels romantic and fluid. In particular, "Chica Chica Boom Chic" stands out. The Carmen Miranda song is bolstered by Brown's percussive-heavy arrangements, which is a hallmark of traditional Brazilian music. Most of the record is sung in Portuguese, Bebel's native language, and was conceived, developed and recorded in her home studio. Ronson produced the Stevie Wonder-penned "The Real Thing," which was originally recorded by Sergio Mendes. The Dap Kings, the band best known for supporting Sharon Jones and Amy Winehouse, join Gilberto for "The Real Thing." The singer performs a duet with Daniel Jobim (the grandson of bossa nova king Antonio Carlos Jobim) on "Bim Bom," a song that was first recorded by her father, bossa nova legend Joo Gilberto. - more on this story
