Day in Pop Report for 07/01/2011
The controversy stems from an article that ran in OK! Magazine in Australia, written by international journalist Daphne Barak. In the article, Carter was quoted as saying, "Yes, [MJ] gave me wine. I mean, I could have refused, but I was 15. As for drugs? He gave me cocaine." But Carter's rep tells TMZ, "Nothing was said that was reported" ... and directed us toward a YouTube video of the interview with Barak ... which seems to back up Aaron's side of the story. We've reached out to Barak for comment -- so far, no response. more on this story
In the divorce petition, obtained by TMZ, Shriver cites "irreconcilable differences" as her reason for ending the 25-year marriage. Shriver is asking for spousal support and wants the judge to deny Arnold the right to ask for support for himself-- though it's highly unlikely he would. Shriver is asking for joint custody of their minor children, who she names in the document as 17-year-old "Patrick Arnold Shriver Schwarzenegger" and 13-year-old "Christopher Sargent Shriver Schwarzenegger." And, in the petition, filed by disso-queen Laura Wasser, Shriver is asking Arnold to pay the attorneys fees of both parties. Rapidly rising British girl band, Parade, opened the show with Yeah 3x. Despite missing band member Lauren sadly at home with severe muscle bruising following a recent stage accident the group set the stage alight with their sexy dance routines, exhilarating live vocals and unique style of glittery make up, belting out tracks such as Perfume and Ticking On It, and ending their set with a memorable rendition of their debut single, Louder, from their eponymous album, Parade. LMFAO rocked the island of Malta when they took to the stage, with the audience partying to the infectious hip hop/electronica beats of hits including Party Rock Anthem, Champagne Showers and I'm in Miami, Trick. The band were greeted by an instantaneous and tumultuous roar from the crowd on hearing the lyrics change to "I'm in Malta, Trick" at points during the performance. The duo's antics definitely made the audience 'laugh their fat asses off' with their dancing robot on stage and simultaneous stage dives into the partying crowd below. more on this story

It might be her most successful month since the height of her octo-fame ... sources close to Nadya Suleman tell TMZ, the self-loathing mother of 14 -- who recently told InTouch that she "hates" her babies -- has successfully turned her tortured existence into a profitable business. We're told Nadya made her money doing various things like "Celebridate," The Cable Show in Chicago, MMA fights, a celebrity boxing match, bikini photo shoots, and several paid interviews across the globe. And she has more paid gigs in the pipeline -- including another celebrity boxing match, several more interviews, and a possible instructional workout video. If you feel like congratulating her, Octo will be celebrating her b-day at the House of Blues on July 13th -- but the place might already be at capacity ... thanks to her kids. more on this story
The land down under has hardly been a hotbed of international chart hits, which makes Minogue's rise to the top all the more remarkable. She began as a child actress in Australia before winning a role on a TV soap that would provide her with a platform for stardom. Neighbours, a daily soap set on the fictional Ramsey Street in Melbourne, launched in 1985 and was quickly picked up by the BBC in England. A cut above most daytime series, the show would launch several Aussies to international success, including Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce and Natalie Imbruglia. Playing a car mechanic called Charlene, the tiny Minogue (she just tops 5 feet) quickly became a favorite character and signed a record deal in Australia. She released a version of Little Eva's "The Locomotion" and took it to the top spot in Australia. Looking for a wider market, she signed with Britain's pop conveyor belt, Stock, Aitken and Waterman (S.A.W.), the writing and producing empire that gave the world hits by, among others, Bananarama, Dead or Alive, Mel and Kim and the timeless Rick Astley. more on this story

As promised to all the fans and supporters who've been writing me and tweeting saying that they're ready for new music...here's something to hold you over until I'm able to get back in pocket. It's a song that I did soon after my release last time. What inspired me to write this record was the differences in how we do us and how they do them suddenly became incredibly evident in just a very short period of time. Mostly jokes but you know how they say there's truth in humor right? "I want to give a huge "What's Haaaapnin'" to my young Grand Hustle homie, B.o.B, who was grand enough to join me on this song and The Runners who laced the track for me. So no disrespect to those who do...But nah homie WE DON'T GET DON'T LIKE Y'ALL!!! "Keep it pimpin' and see you in a minute." Check it out here
