Sources directly connected to Kris tell TMZ ... the bballer -- through his Minnesota lawyer -- has given Kim an ultimatum ... either pay up, or endure an ugly, public trial. Our sources say Kris and his lawyer have been told to pound sand, and with good reason. For starters, even if there wasn't a prenup, the marriage lasted a grand total of 72 days, so the community property wouldn't be in the universe of $7 mil. Second, there was an iron-clad prenup, which provided that Kim owes Kris zilch. Third, Kris actually MADE MONEY from the marriage. Sources tell us ... Kris raked in around $1 mil from the wedding and the TV special that showcased the nuptials. And Kris made off like a bandit because Kim ended up using a portion of what she got to pay for the ring. In addition, we're told Kris made somewhere between $250,000 and $300,000 from the Kardashian reality show.
The singer has also been steaming up the online world; last week, she posted a topless photo of herself on twitter The shot was taken on the set of the video shoot for "Where Have You Been," the latest track from Rihanna's "Talk that Talk" album. See the ad here.
The rapper -- real name Juaquin Malphurs -- was just slapped with a cease and desist letter by the North Carolina Protective Services Board, saying Waka's security team is unwelcome at his upcoming concerts this month ... because they are unlicensed in the state. In the letter, the NC Board cites a tour bus incident in Charlotte, NC last year -- when members of Waka's entourage opened fire on cars after being shot at ... an incident that resulted in at least two arrests. Now, NC ain't taking any chances -- refusing to allow ANY members of Waka's entourage to engage in private or protective security services while Waka's in the Tar Heel State. If they fail to comply, the NC Protective Services Board promises to file criminal charges. Sources close to the rapper tell TMZ, the NCPSB is merely trying to harass them -- insisting they have the right to self-defense like anyone else. We're told Waka and his team are currently exploring their legal options. more on this story

TMZ has obtained Paula's response to the lawsuit filed against her and her brother Bubba by Lisa Jackson, the former General Manager of Uncle Bubba's Seafood and Oyster House in Savannah, Georgia. Paula is asking for a gag order, prohibiting everyone in the case from blabbing to the media. In her motion for a gag order, Paula's lawyer says Lisa's strategy has been clear -- "Pay or I will ruin you." Lisa claims Bubba engaged in a campaign of terror, subjecting her to porn, kissing and spitting on her, making racist and sexist jokes, and on and on. Paula denies all of Lisa's allegations. As TMZ first reported, Lisa sent Paula a letter 3 months before she quit, praising Bubba and telling Paula how much he helped her become an independent woman. more on this story

On this date in 1988, Rick Astley began a two-week run at #1 on the U.S. singles chart with his first solo single, the soul-flavored dance track "Never Gonna Give You Up." The song would also hit the top of the charts in the U.K., Canada and most of Europe, kick-starting a career that would see Astley sell in excess of 40 million albums by the time of his rather early retirement in 1993. No one knew then that the song would go on to have an even greater second life nearly 20 years later, when it became part of an Internet phenomenon, known simply as "rickrolling." The origin of rickrolling involves a duck and a guy named "moot." The latter was the handle for the director of an image-sharing website called 4chan. In 2006, moot decided to have a little fun with his followers and change the word "egg" to "duck" every time it appeared in a message post. This little practical joke spread and soon the practice was dubbed "duckrolling," after the joke-affected word, "eggroll." Then in March 2007, the concept of duckrolling took on an unexpectedly English face. Rockstar Games was set to release the trailer for the eagerly anticipated Grand Theft Auto IV game. The response was so overwhelming and immediate that the site crashed. Then, some clever anonymous person at 4chan grabbed the now-useless URL for the trailer and linked it, not to a duck on wheels, but to the music video for Rick Astley's chart-topper. And thus, rickrolling was born. Suddenly offices and dorm rooms everywhere were erupting into song when an unsuspecting victim clicked on what he/she thought would be a Grand Theft traileror a pic of a sexy girl or a contest prize or a hot stock tip. The pranks were endless.
