Rise Against Meat To Win
Peta reports: Fans and critics alike have come to expect more than just intense music when Chicago’s Rise Against takes center stage. The band doesn’t disappoint in a brand-new pro-vegetarian ad for peta2—PETA’s Youth Division—that shows band members Joe Principe, Chris Chasse, Tim McIlrath, and Brandon Barnes posing in front of a brick wall with the spray-painted tagline “Meat Is Murder—Go Vegetarian.” Not content just to shoot the ad, the band offered sponsor a contest in which a lucky visitor to peta2.com will win a new snowboard donated by the band.

It’s no small gesture, considering that Rise Against is currently on the Taste of Chaos International, stopping in Australia, Japan, the United Kingdom, and Germany. So why does the all-vegetarian band equate meat with murder? “I started realizing that the meat industry is a very f***ed-up thing,” says Joe. “I think that the idea behind animals as just products—selling animals like that—is a wrong thing. These are living creatures that feel pain. I don’t believe in that, so I’m vegetarian.”[see full story to check out the ad and enter the contest]- Click Here for the Full Story

George Benson DVD
Kayos reports: Eagle Rock Entertainment, the leading independent source for high quality music audio/visual programming, will release GeorgeBenson: Live at Montreux 1986, a performance on DVD from one of the true greats of jazz guitar at Europe’s most prestigious music festival.

Contemporary jazz and smooth r&b have never seen a figure as successful and versatile as George Benson. This show not only demonstrates his utter mastery of Wes Montgomery-style guitar playing, but also showcases the strong, flexible singing that ultimately exposed him to a mass audience. Here, he sings such monster hits as “Turn Your Love Around,” his concert show-stopper “On Broadway,” and often scat-sings while soloing, his trademark crowd-pleasing trick. Additionally, he takes on “The Greatest Love of All,” a song best known via Whitney Houston’s version, but that aficionados consider to be effectively owned by Benson. Dizmas Hardcore for Christ
Press Release reports: Even in the midst of a world, and church, of pluralism and controversy, the message is clear,” Dizmas lead singer Zach Zegan says of the track “Controversy”, one of the many faith-based, yet universally relevant, songs that make up their first album titled “On A Search In America,” released by EMI’s Credential Recordings.

Though all the members of Dizmas are age 21 or younger, their acute awareness of the world, and their place in it, uniquely surpasses what might be expected from young, metal men. They have a made it their mission to worship through a genre of music not often united with personal faith, joining the likes of P.O.D. and Switchfoot, two other bands whose messages have struck a chord with mainstream audience.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Sascha Leaves Symphorce
Metal Blade reports: “Right after an amazing tour, Sascha suddenly decided to leave after more than 4 years in the band. His decision was based on personal reasons. But since we have to take things as they come, we’re proud to announce two guest drummers for the shows that are already booked and confirmed!

We will be helped out by Andy Flache (who is well known as one of our chief roadies from hell) and Steffen Theurer (ex-Chinchilla/Woodpeckers). We hope to get everything fixed in time and hope Sascha will find his way.

We’re looking forward to even more amazing shows and are ready to rock da house!” - Symphorce- Click Here for the Full Story
