Illegal Alien Metal
Blabbermouth reports: Santa Cruz, California-based death metallers DECREPIT BIRTH have issued the following update:

"We would like to thank everyone who made the Bloodletting 5 tour a great success for us… Some of you might have heard of our guitarist Mike Turner's small ordeal at the Canadian border. We just wanted to let you all know that Mike did spend the weekend in a Canadian jail due to multiple attempts to cross the border into Canada. He was really disappointed about not making it across the border because he really wanted to get a chance to play in Canada. Despite the absence of Mike, the Canadian shows turned out to be a big success for DECREPIT BIRTH, and we can't wait to get back up there. Next time we'll make sure that Mike can make it out there with us."[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Cornell Solo Details
PR reports: Chris Cornell, the singer-songwriter who brought us Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog, has announced the 13th album of his career. Working with Grammy Award-winning British super-producer Steve Lillywhite (U2, Rolling Stones, Morrissey, Dave Matthews Band), pre-production on the album has already begun, recording will being in September and the album is set for an early 2007 release on Interscope Records.

Cornell, inspired by songwriters from Elvis Costello to Bruce Springsteen, says that his own lyrical approach leans on stream-of-consciousness, "getting out of my own way" to allow themes to naturally arise, whether topical or biographical. "The most exciting thing is to let yourself expose your true, vulnerable feelings, which is what resonates with people most," he explains. As far as his vocal style, he points to such R&B singers as Otis Redding and Aretha Franklin for showing masterfully how emotion can best be conveyed, even in subtle phrasing, also praising Bob Marley's expressive range and Tom Waits' use of his voice as an instrument.- Click Here for the Full Story
