GNR Leak: Full Demo of Better |
antiMusic reports: Another full Guns N' Roses
song has leaked onto the internet. This time it is the full demo for the
track "Better," the track originally leaked out as a clip that was less
than a minute and half but enough to get fans excited about the song. The
full five minute demo features a ripping guitar solo as well as some unexpected
change-ups from the original leaked clip. If this is the direction Axl
has taken GNR, most fans will be pleased with the results.
Many believe that an announcement is coming
really soon regarding the release of Chinese Democracy, with the
most prevalent rumor placing the release date as March 28th. However, it
is not clear which label the CD would be released by (Geffen or Sanctuary)
and reps from both labels told MTV this week they haven't heard anything
about the long awaited album. [see full story for more]-

Singer? |
Blabbermouth reports: Launch Radio Networks
reports: The surviving members of ALICE IN CHAINS are regrouping for at
least one live performance and perhaps many more, according to the band's
publicist. The group has confirmed its appearance at the Nova Rock festival
in Austria in mid-June, with more dates in Europe and North America being
discussed. It has not yet been revealed who will sing lead vocals for the
group. William DuVall, a member of ALICE IN CHAINS guitarist Jerry Cantrell's
solo touring band, will take the mic on March 10 when the group appears
on a taping of the VH1 show, "Decades Rock Live!". It is not clear if DuVall
will join ALICE IN CHAINS for any other appearances.
DuVall has performed ALICE IN CHAINS songs
on tour with Cantrell, who told Launch that he was impressed with the way
DuVall handled the material. "William's really a great singer, and he really
did that stuff well," Cantrell said. "There are not too many cats that
pull that stuff off, and he's one of the few that can. Very talented guy."[see

The
Mother Ship Lands Again |
Day in Rock reports: LA hard rock fans that
were around in the late 80s / early 90s probably have fond memories of
two radio stations - KNAC and Pirate Radio. KNAC launched a web station
years ago headed by some of the same personnel behind the Long Beach based
terrestrial metal station. Now Pirate Radio is represented online. It's
unclear if any of the original cast of characters behind the original "mother
ship" are part of the online station but the playlist will take former
Pirate Radio listeners back. Featuring hardrockers from the 80s and early
90s in several high quality formats with a true radio broadcast (none of
those nagging delays between songs). The contacts page list three locations-
Los Angeles, UK and PA. The site is registered to a UK resident.
The original Pirate Radio launched at 100.3
on the L.A. FM dial on March 17, 1989 at 5am with Guns N' Roses "Welcome
To the Jungle," shocking the light-rock listeners of the station it replaced
"K-Lite". The station initially launched commercial free with the "pirate
radio" theme and word quickly spread with the station inviting listeners
to "flush" the other local rock stations. The Pirate ruled for four years
until its debt heavy parent company (Westwood One) sold it to Viacom who
quickly dumped it. On April 2, 1993 Pirate Radio died. A year later on
April Fools Day weekend Alternative rock station KROQ shocked their listeners
by making them believe Pirate Radio had returned and had taken over KROQ.

Franz
Vs Payola |
FMQB reports: When last year's well-documented
Eliot Spitzer payola investigation became public knowledge, Franz Ferdinand
were one of the many musical acts whose name came up in the news. However,
the band themselves weren't exactly thrilled about seeing themselves in
the press for this reason.
Speaking to The Daily Yomiuri in Japan,
singer Alex Kapranos said, "To put it mildly, I find it embarrassing...It's
[this payola issue] something that's got nothing to do with us, and it's
something that really gets my back up. I was gonna say that I don't approve
of it, but it's something that's more extreme than that--it's actually
something that makes me feel really annoyed that people want to do that."[see

Haste
the Day Find Voice |
Adrenaline reports: After one European tour
and 2 weeks into their tour with Bleeding Through & Every Time I Die,
Haste the Day have made Stephen Keech a permanent fixture in the band.
Stephen replaces Jimmy Ryan as the lead singer for Haste the Day. Jimmy
Ryan made his decision to depart the band known back late November of 2005.
His decision to leave was strictly personal and was amicable.
Haste the Day became aware of Keech in
early 2005 through his involvement in bands locally in Denver Colorado.
When Jimmy Ryans decision to depart was made known internally, the search
began and Keechs name was one of the first to come up. After several discussions
and much thought were put forth, Keech was asked to join the band for a
3 week European tour in January of 2006.[see full story for more]-
