in the early hours of Thursday morning.
According to reports the group’s bodyguard
got involved in a fight with the club’s doorman, who was pictured with

Axl
Ransomed |
antiMusic reports: Axl Roses' manager Merck
Mercuriadis has said the actions of Swedish police following the singer's
arrest last month was "tantamount to being held for ransom". Rose was arrested
following an incident at a hotel where the Guns N' Roses frontman reportedly
bit a security guard in the leg.
Mercuriadis told the BBC, "We are in the
middle of a tour. The Swedish authorities were very aware of this, yet
continually threatened us over a 12 hour period with between five days
and three weeks incarceration without bail if Axl did not 'co-operate'."
"They were fully aware that there were
millions of dollars at stake, not to mention the hopes of tens of thousands
of fans who had paid for tickets to see Guns N' Roses. [see full story

Rolling
Stone Pathetic |
Blabbermouth reports: Zakk Wylde didn't mince
words when Metal Edge asked him his opinion of Rolling Stone's puzzling
Top Guitarist issue. Even though a few years have passed since that issue
hit the stands, Zakk still holds strong feelings about it.
Zakk: "Oh, God… That thing was pathetic.
I mean, dude, I think they had Eddie Van Halen at, like, 70-something,
Randy Rhoads almost didn't even make the list. I was like, 'You gotta be
kidding me!' Then they had Kurt Cobain, he's like, 12??? God bless his
soul, Kurt was a great songwriter - you know what I mean? - who happened
to be playing guitar. He would have been laughing his balls off, above
Eddie Van Halen and Randy Rhoads. Yngwie wasn't even on the friggin' list!
Steve Vai wasn't on the list. I don't even know if Slash was on the list,
and we're not even talking about rock guitar players. Danny Gatton, Albert
Lee, none of these guys were on that list. I mean, I don't know who figured
out that list." [see the full story link to read what Zakk has to say about
his involvement as a "studio guitarist" on the last Ozzy CD. -

Dam
Ozzfest Problem for SYL |
antiMusic reports: Strapping Young Lad's July
4th Ozzfest set in New Mexico was 'dammed' due to traffic laws. The band
missed the stop on the tour and quickly posted the following explanation
for their disappointed fans.
"Our sincerest apologies to our fans in
Albuquerque… we had some trouble making it to the venue in time and thus
were too late to make our set." Jed Simon wrote on the band's MySpace page
Tuesday afternoon. "We lost alot of time on the trip when we had to backtrack
around the Hoover dam...we were coming from an 'off-show' in Vegas, and
our driver wasn't aware that bus traffic was not allowed across the dam...and
we were all asleep...so again...sorry everyone."
The next Ozzfest stop is Friday in Phoenix,
AZ. - Click

Mastodon
Tease |
antiMusic reports: Mastodon fans have been
eagerly awaiting the band's major label debut 'Blood Mountain,' which should
hit stores later this year. But the fans don't have to wait that much longer
to get a taste of the album. They announced on their MySpace page that
they will be previewing a brand new song this week. "This Friday, July
7th everyone will get to hear 'Crystal Skull' off our forthcoming album
Blood Mountain [on MySpace]" they write in a blog. "The song features additional
vocals from our good friend Scott Kelly (guitar/vocals) of Neurosis."
And while they are using their MySpace
page to reach fans they haven't forgotten about their official online presence.
They concluded the message with this announcement, "We'll also be launching
our new website this week at www.mastodonrocks.com keep checking for that."
Maybe they'll give fans more a taste with the site launch? -

Supernova
and Friends |
antiMusic reports: Supernova, the supergroup
put together for the second season of CBS's Rock Star will be getting a
little help from their friends when it comes to judging the aspiring singers
in the television contest. Dave Navarro, host and an executive producer
of the show revealed to Tara Merrin of the Calgary Sun that he's personally
calling on some friends to guest judge this season.
"We are going to have a weekly guest judge
that I'm bringing from my own personal Rolodex -- Macy Gray, Slash, Rob
Zombie and Moby," says Navarro. "They are going to give their opinion of
who they think should stay and who should go."
He also warns that the hopefuls better
keep in mind which band they are trying out for, "What they chose and how
they perform it will say more to Supernova than if they had to do one of
their songs because if someone picks a Duran Duran song, I am simply going
to say, 'You want to join Tommy Lee, Jason Newsted and Gilby Clarke and
that's the song you choose?'" [click the full story link for the entire
