Gay Bashers Busted
antiMusic reports: Four young males aged 16 to 20 have been arrested for hate crime assault and hate crime harassment for allegedly attacking gay singer Kevin Aviance as he left a Manhattan's East Village gay bar late Saturday night.

Aviance best known for his No. 1 dance hits "Da Da Din" and "Alive" was beaten and kicked by the four youths as they yelled several gay epithets including "kill the faggot". "They kicked me in my back, they kicked in my knees. They just kept kicking," he said.

The 38 year old singer was released from the hospital on Monday after being treated for head trauma and other injuries. The four assailants are being held pending arraignment according to Reuters. - Click Here for the Full Story

Congress Vs Idol
antiMusic reports: One member of Congress has called the American Idol voting process into question. North Carolina Representative Howard Coble (R) thinks his constituent Chris Daughtry (of McLeansville) was robbed of the Idol title. Like a good politician, he bases his judgment on "online polls, fan blogs, numerous websites and general talk around town". He admits that he doesn't know the pop music business, "most people know that my musical tastes run more towards bluegrass," however he makes it clear, "But I do know politics," he said in the Congressional Record. "With no disrespect intended toward this year's winner, Taylor Hicks, most people think this year's American Idol should have been Chris Daughtry… while I will not call for Congress to investigate this Idol election process, those of us who reside in the 6th District of North Carolina will always be convinced that our guy really won - sort of like fans of Al Gore in 2000." Coble already represents one Idol winner, Fantasia Barrino (now known as just Fantasia) who hails from High Point. - Click Here for the Full Story

Korn Illness
antiMusic reports: Jonathan Davis' mystery illness is no longer a mystery. The Korn frontman issued a statement explaining that he is suffering from a blood disorder called Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura. "I started getting these weird bruises all over my body about two weeks ago," Davis said. "I was getting very weak after the shows so I saw a doctor in London Friday. He took some blood tests and when the results came in, they rushed me to the hospital. It turned out I have ITP [Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura]. It's too hard to spell, but basically it's a blood infection where because of an allergic reaction, my blood platelets - the stuff my bone marrow produces to help my blood clot - were really low. I mean, way low. Most humans have between 140 and 400 in their cells. I had 5... no joke... FIVE. If I continued to headbang on stage I could have had a brain hemorrhage and dropped dead on the spot"

He says won't be down for long, "The doctors are telling me that each day I've been here in hospital my platelet count has been going up and I should be healthy to play in a few weeks." [see full story for his full statement]- Click Here for the Full Story

KISS Cancer Goodbye
PR reports: The KISS Army March committee is proud to announce the details surrounding the events planned for Cleveland on August 4-5, 2006. The committee has announced that 100% of the net proceeds generated by the event will go to the American Cancer Society (ACS). ACS was chosen because former KISS drummer Eric Carr succumbed to the disease in 1991. Says Brian Harman, Regional Development Director with ACS, "This is a great community event put on by the KISS Army and the funds raised will help us KISS cancer goodbye."

The intent of the march is to gain the attention of the Selection Committee of the Hall and have them reconsider their decision to exclude KISS. Participants will assemble at noon in Voinovich Park behind the Hall of Fame and begin their march at 2 PM. Before and after the march, many KISS-related events will take place. You can find the itinerary at www.KISSarmyunites.com

Morley Seaver did an interview with the planners to find out what drove them to start this rally. You can read the first part of this interview with Paul Carpenter at the full story link - Click Here for the Full Story
