Purple
Bane |
hecklerspray reports: We've all had dodgy
landlords at one point or another - petty little gits who ignore the fact
that slugs crawl across the carpet every night but will keep your deposit
for finding one atom of blu-tac on a wall.
Tiny, recently-resurrected, purple imp
Prince is going through his own landlord worries at the moment. Why? Did
Prince block up his kitchen sink with a mixture of congealing fat and body
hair? Did Prince accidentally pull down a pair of curtains during a house
party one evening? No. Prince painted his entire rented house purple, and
daubed the title of his new album up and down the exterior. We've all done
it, to be fair.[see full story for more]- Click

Ian
Gillan & Friends |
Press Release reports: Rock legend Ian Gillan
has long lived the epitome of the rock n' roll lifestyle, so it's only
fitting that his new album is a career retrospective that takes fans through
the incredible journey that has been his career. On Gillan's Inn (in stores
April 18th via immergent), he revisits and re-records classic Ian Gillan
and Deep Purple songs, as well as his personal career favorites. The DualDisc
is loaded with interviews, photos and several versions of "Smoke on the
Water," each with a different guitarist.
To build Gillans Inn, Ian enlisted some
of the biggest names from the past 30 years of rock history including Ronnie
James Dio, Joe Elliot (Def Leppard), Janick Gers (Iron Maiden), Jeff Healy,
Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath), Steve Morse, Johnny Rzeznik (Goo Goo Dolls),
Uli John Roth (Scorpions), Joe Satriani and members of Deep Purple. He
also brought Nick Blagona (The Police, Bee Gees, Chicago, Rainbow and Deep
Purple) in to handle production duties. The result is undeniable fun, a
romp through the hazy memories of youth, and a palpable reminder of the
place Ian Gillan holds in rock n' roll history.[see full story for more]-

Voiceless |
KNAC reports: Therion founder, frontman and
guitarist Christofer Johnsson, announced today he will be retiring as a
singer.
"As was announced at the Metal Mania festivals,
I am going to retire from vocals. The reasons for this are two: One is
that I feel it's not fun to sing anymore (even though I have enjoyed playing

I experienced problems at the end of the U.S./Canada tour.[see full story
