Hep C Battle |
KNAC reports: Aerosmith's Steven Tyler has
been battling hepatitis C for three years and wants to raise awareness
of the disease.
He explained the infection is "non-existent"
in his bloodstream after a year of interferon treatment.
"Hepatitis C is the one that, of all the
people in this room, at least three have it and don't know it. It's the
silent killer. I may go on Oprah and talk about this."[see full story for

Dog
The Ozzy Hunter |
BW&BK reports: If anybody could get criminals
to listen, it would be Ozzy Osbourne, claims Duane "Dog" Chapman. With
the fourth season of his reality show, "Dog the Bounty Hunter," already
in production, Dog says he'd like to see the famous musician accompany
him on his next bounty hunt.
"We're doing a celebrity ride along very
soon. He wrote our theme song so he's one of the people we're thinking
about," says Dog about Osbourne. However, no final decisions have been
made. [maybe they can arrest Kelly for singing in public? See full story

In Chains |
BW&BK reports: L.A. radio station KROQ
gathered some of the hardest-rocking bands in all the land over the weekend
for their annual Inland Invasion show, highlighted by GUNS N' ROSES' first
hometown show in years.
Besides GN'R, musicians backstage seemed
especially eager to catch Britain's MUSE, who did not disappoint. Following
their virtuosic set, the recently reformed ALICE IN CHAINS came out to
a strong response and a lot of curiosity. With new frontman William Duvall,
the band got some help from LINKIN PARK vocalist Chester Bennington, surprise
guest on an inspired version of 'Man In The Box.' [see full story for more]-

Hank
III Tour |
PR reports: Influenced by "Whiskey, Weed and
Women", HANK III's album, 'Straight to Hell', breaks all the rules of country
music while somehow managing to honor its traditions at the same time.
This two-CD celebration of drinking too much, staying up too late and getting
into all kinds of nefarious mischief will no doubt bring an exultant yee-haw
from those intrepid souls who have followed the exploits of this third-generation
hell-raiser. The surprise is that Williams concocted his two-CD opus on
a Korg D-1600 digital recorder a $400 piece of hardware that liberated
the artist from temporal and budget constraints. Be sure to check him out
on his upcoming trek across the states bringing his brand of hillbilly
country, fused with metal sound, to a city near you!

Cat
Vs Pope |
AP reports: The singer formerly known as Cat
Stevens, who converted to Islam and changed his name to Yusuf Islam, joined
the furor over Pope Benedict XVI's recent comments about Islam by criticizing
the pontiff on Sunday.
In the pope's controversial speech in Germany
this month, Benedict quoted words of a Byzantine emperor that characterized
some of the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad as "evil and inhuman." [Cat
said]...The pontiff "should have looked elsewhere if he wanted to quote
but we respect the pope and his position," he said, adding it was good
Benedict had retracted his statement "in a way."[see full story for more]-

Flotsam
and Pilots School |
blabbermouth.net reports: As BLABBERMOUTH.NET
first reported yesterday, FLOTSAM AND JETSAM has now officially cancelled
its previously announced European tour which was set to take place in November.
Here is the statement from drummer Craig Nielsen:
"[Eric] A.K. [vocals] applied some time
ago, long before the tour was being put together, for acceptance into a
helicopter flight training academy in Arizona. He wants to be a helicopter
firefighter which is an amazing career goal at this point in his life.
Ambition does not begin to describe the scope of this undertaking. There
is an extreme amount of study, determination, commitment, concentration
and BALLS that are required to make it through the education. The thing
was, nobody really thought he would be approved for the very large loan
for the enrollment. Fortunately for him, he was, although somewhat after
the dates in Europe were being finalized.[see full story for more]-
