Twisted Murder Mystery Deepens
Phillip Bantz reports: While investigators have said the death of a promising Cape Coral musician was likely the result of an accidental or intentional overdose, an autopsy reveals apparently non-lethal amounts of drugs in the man's system. The report also indicates that injuries found inside 23-year-old Andrew J. Howard's throat are more significant than officials previously said.

Howard, a former guitarist with the now defunct heavy metal band "Twisted Method," was found dead inside his Cape Coral home Sept. 16, 2005. He had been lying in bed deceased for approximately 18 hours before being discovered by a member of his new band "The Fallen."

Rebecca Hamilton, a Lee County medical examiner, has ruled the cause of Howard's death as undetermined and the case remains a mystery nearly two years later. Hamilton reported evidence of acute blunt trauma in the autopsy, which states that Howard's esophagus showed "multiple, irregular acute hemorrhages" and that his right sternothyroid muscle had "an irregular, acute 3.0 cm hemorrhage." Trent Explains NIN Year Zero Concept
PR reports: There have been a ton of stories circulating online about Nine Inch Nails' new album, Year Zero, due out 4.17.07. The concept is somewhat difficult to explain, so here is a pasted note from Trent below that sums up his vision for this record:

This record began as an experiment with noise on a laptop in a bus on tour somewhere. That sound led to a daydream about the end of the world. That daydream stuck with me and over time revealed itself to be much more. I believe sometimes you have a choice in what inspiration you choose to follow and other times you really don't. This record is the latter. Once I tuned into it, everything fell into place... as if it were meant to be. With a framework established, the songs were very easy to write. Things started happening in my "real" life that blurred the lines of what was fiction and what wasn't. The record turned out to be more than a just a record in scale, as you will see over time. We Are The Fury Set the Date
PR/DiR reports: FINALLY it's time...Venus, We Are The Fury's debut full length is set for a May 22nd release on One Big Spark/East West. "This band doesn't waste any time. Press play and they're off with glammed-out, Rolling Stones-influenced rock. Instead of trying to placate the masses they focus on writing instant dance-rock classics that T.Rex would sanction." 5 Stars - Penthouse

"Think Guns N' Roses meets Bowie meets reckless abandon" Entertainment Weekly

Will they live up to that hype? We'll see in May. But you can learn more at the full story link and find tour dates there too. It's handy that way.

Malajube Us Debut
PR reports: Malajube's Trompe l'oiel may have come out in 06, but the sophomore release from our favorite Canadian indie pop act is turning out to be one of the biggest records of 2007. Over the past two months, the band has been making friends left and right, recently landing glossy coverage in both Spin and Billboard, while re-igniting the interest of folks over at Pitchfork, Brooklyn Vegan and My Old Kentucky Blog, enjoying love from ASAP's Hit Refresh column, AOL's Spinner, and most recently, Yahoo's Who's Next feature. Presently Malajube is pitted up against Silversun Pickups, Peter, Bjorn & John and Sick Puppies, in a no-holds-barred online fight, where fans choose which of the four acts will drop by Yahoo for an in-studio session later this month. Meanwhile, the band is gearing up for their first tour of America: a massive, 19-date jaunt with Snowden, which finds the band making a stop in San Fran for Noise Pop before marching down to Austin for SXSW. Once in Austin, Malajube will be playing a slew of incredible showcase. Presently, they're on board for the Bonsound Showcase atop Maggie Mae's on Thursday, March 15th, and are slated to play the Blogger-Curated Hot Freaks party at Mohawk on Saturday, March 17th. More to come. [see full story for dates]- Click Here for the Full Story

Here, There, and Everywhere: My Life Recording the Music of the Beatles, published by Gotham Books (a Penguin/Putnam imprint) is now available in both hardcover and in trade paperback format.

Thomas Dolby Plots Tour / SxSW Show
conqueroo reports: If you're wondering what Thomas Dolby has done in the two decades since he cunningly fused pop and electronic music, the answer is in the palm of your hand: Twelve years ago Dolby left music and proceeded to develop the Beatnik software technology used in two-thirds of the world's cell phones. Unlike many performers who return to the stage, he doesn't need to do it for the money. Pumped up by new technologies and changing business models in the music industry, and re-invigorated by reaction to his initial tour dates earlier this year, Dolby is now writing his first album of new music since the early 90s.

He will also hit the road in March, with shows in Northern California and Texas, including SXSW in Austin on March 15. Ever the innovator, Dolby is pioneering a new blend of instruments: high-tech electronica plus live jazz brass. His spring touring ensemble will feature real-time looping on a computer laptop, along with a three-piece horn section (the Jazz Mafia Horns) comprising some of the San Francisco Bay Area's finest young jazz soloists: Adam Theis on trombone, Rich Armstrong on trumpet, and Ron Cohen on tenor sax.[see full story for more including dates]- Click Here for the Full Story

Counting T-Recs
PR reports: Counting Crows lead singer and Oscar-nominated songwriter, Adam Duritz, ventures into the label side of the music business with the launch of Tyrannosaurus Records (T-Recs). Starting a new label was not on Duritz's to-do list, especially while he was busy writing new material and laying tracks for Counting Crows upcoming record (being recorded in NYC as we speak). But a trip to MySpace.com changed all that when he discovered two exceptional artists, Notar and Blacktop Mourning.

According to Duritz, "The talent of Notar and Blacktop Mourning just blew me away and I wanted to be a part of their evolution. But I know that when you start a label you're responsible for the hopes and dreams of the artists you sign and that's a big deal to me. We're here to create a partnership with our artists, help them make great music and navigate the treacherous waters of the music business. Simple as that."

"My vision for T-Recs is an intimate boutique label," continues Duritz. "We're in the studio with the bands, talking to them constantly about their careers and their music. We handle everything in-house and we're taking on a very limited number of artists so that each band gets personal attention."[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
