Plastic Ono Band DVD
PR reports: Eagle Rock Entertainment is proud to announce the April 29 release of Plastic Ono Band by John Lennon. For its latest "Classic Albums" DVD, Eagle Rock Entertainment has explored the creation of this painful masterpiece via archival footage, detailed analysis and new interviews with Yoko Ono, Ringo Starr and bassist Klaus Voorman, a longtime Lennon friend and confidant.

John Lennon was a tortured individual when he recorded his 1970 solo debut album, Plastic Ono Band. He had been in therapy with Dr. Arthur Janov whose controversial "primal scream" psychiatric techniques were raising eyebrows within the medical establishment.

Lennon took the black hole of his depression and poured it into his music via such personalized mantras as "Mother," "Isolation," "God," "My Mummy's Dead" and nine others. Intense and shocking, Lennon spared no expense in skewering longheld beloved beliefs ("I don't believe in Beatles") while openly seething over his own lost childhood ("Mother, you had me but I never had you"). - more on this story

Barenaked Kids
PR reports: Barenaked Ladies have collaborated with Emmy-nominated animator Nancy Lennert (Blues Clues, Little Bill) to create a hilarious western-themed video for the track "7 8 9" off of their forthcoming original children's album, Snacktime, out May 6. The western-themed video features the numbers 1 through 10 hanging out at "5 Ladies Saloon," but 6 is afraid of 7.

BNL will perform "7 8 9" on Live! With Regis & Kelly on Wednesday, May 7 as part of a promotional tour they are doing around the release, which includes a series of in-store events.

Families can also see the songs from the Snacktime album come to life with a children's book by the same title, which is now being offered as part of a deluxe package on the band's website (bnlmusic.com). The book is a special adaptation of the Snacktime song lyrics with imaginative illustrations from BNL's own Kevin Hearn. - more on this story

Dear Life Debut Set
PR reports: Dear Life has signed with Uprising Records and is set to release their debut album Framework on June 24. Since solidifying their line up in 2004, Dear Life has emerged as a clear front runner to become one of the next successful hardcore/metal bands. It is the band's dedication and ambition that has allowed them to rise to their current status and will help them to continue their success.

It was their shared belief that music can deeply impact a person that brought founding members Vince Apostol (guitar), Matt Apostol (drums), and Daniel Moran (guitar) together to form Dear Life. The addition of vocalist Kevin Castellon and bassist Mike Trujillo in 2004 rounded out the band's line up and Dear Life was ready to move forward full steam ahead. Since 2004, the band has earned themselves spots on tours with Arsonists Get All The Girls (Century Media) and Catherine (Rise) and more recently shared the stage with the likes of such heavy hitters as Every Time I Die and Chiodos.

Framework showcases Dear Life's attention to their songwriting and the blending of their influences to create a sound that is truly their own. "All of us in the band enjoy all kinds of genres and I think it shines through in our music," says guitarist Vince Apostol of Dear Life's influences. The album is chock full of heavy riffs, breakdowns, and group sung choruses. To help capture the band's unique sound and passion for their music Dear Life brought in Roger Camero (The Warriors, No Motiv) to record and produce the album and Paul Miner (New Found Glory, Thrice, Atreyu) to do the mixing and mastering on the album.

Sebastian Bach Giving UK Bonuses
Sleazeroxx reports: Demolition Records are proud to have been given the privilege to release the latest solo album from vocal rock legend Sebastian Bach. Angel Down is the first Bach solo record since 1999, and, arguably--as we all know he's made some classics already--his best.

"As an artist you're always hoping your latest work is your best," he admits. "I've been involved with what have been called great records during my life and this is one that ranks up there with 18 and Life and Slave to the Grind."

Because this is a UK release only, it's got to be a little special, so Demolition have been given access to bonus material of exclusive live Bach footage to give to you along with the CD! As if that isn't enough, with this album, not only do you get Bach once again singing on top form, but also guest vocals from Guns and Roses front man, Axl Rose - more on this story

A Return to Brutality
PR reports: Metal Mind Productions presents the exclusive re-releases of Brutality's three full-length albums bring back a true legend of technical death metal, unjustly omitted by the masses.

They will be released on 19th May 2008 in Europe /8th July 2008 in USA (via MVD). All three titles include a bonus track! New digipak edition, limited to numerated 2000 copies, digitally remastered using 24-Bit process on golden disc.

"Screams of Anguish" was released in the summer of 1993, instantly blowing metal fans away. The full-length debut brought ten electrifying compositions showcasing technical death metal at its finest. The band's motto was to create 'Music To Mangle Your Mind' and this is clearly visible on "Screams of Anguish". Complicated yet melodic guitar riffs, intense drumming with a jazzy feel to it and deep death metal growling made up for one of the most impressive death metal releases of the 90's. Songs such as "Cries of the Forsaken" and "These Walls Shall Be Your Grave" are perfect examples of prime death metal ferocity, while the acoustic guitar piece "Sympathy" stands out as a very interesting interlude. Jim Coker's drumming is definitely the album's highlight - as he ranges from all kinds of inspirations, the listener witnesses a truly magnificent performance. Produced by Jim Morris, Brutality's debut album was an excellent way to start a career on the scene.

The Browns Comp
conqueroo reports: Collectors' Choice Music has assembled The Browns: The Complete Hits, a 21-song compilation featuring their work on both the small, regional Fabor label and later RCA Records.

The Browns were a sibling vocal trio comprised of Jim Ed Brown and his sisters Maxine and Bonnie. Their ascent from small-town Arkansas to the top of not only the country charts but the pop charts of the late '50s and early '60s is one of the unlikeliest stories in country history. Tracing their mid-'50s origins all the way to their waning days of the late '60s, Collectors' Choice Music has assembled The Browns: The Complete Hits, a 21-song compilation featuring their work on both the small, regional Fabor label and later RCA Records. Annotated by music historian Colin Escott, the reissue is set for a street date of May 27, 2008.

I am afraid the standard U2 or Willie Nelson fan will have a hard time with Here Is What Is. It is no fault of theirs, as much as Lanois reaches for beauty and magic, which he does so magnificently at times, it is still a heavy duty record. - Read the full Daniel Lanois - Here Is What Is review
