Fox's "American Idol" returned as the nation's most popular TV series, but with 4 million fewer viewers than the 2007 season premiere.

Tuesday's debut was seen by 33.4 million viewers, down 11 percent from the 37.4 million who watched the first show, according to preliminary ratings by Nielsen Media Research.

Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy has announced that he will be hosting an Obama fundraiser next Tuesday in Chicago. The announcement came in the form a press release today wherein Wentz added:

I have been an Obama supporter from day one. After watching the new hampshire primary, I couldn't just be an observer anymore. I had to act. We'll pass on the string quartet, DJ Whiteshadow will put a new spin on politics as usual. Forget the wine and champagne. SeepeopleS Previewing Songs on Tour
PR reports: SeepeopleS plan to release their fourth full length album Apocalypse Cow Vol. 2, the follow up to the critically acclaimed Apocalypse Cow Vol. I, currently being recorded with long time SeepeopleS co-producer Will Holland (The Pixies, Dead Can Dance) at Chillhouse Studios in Boston.

As usual, the album promises to be overly ambitious, perplexing, anthemic and monstrous in scope. "Fans of the band's second album, The Corn Syrup Conspiracy, will probably like the second installment of the Apocalypse Cow series more than the first," states Will Bradford, band leader and songwriter for SeepeopleS. "It is certainly a return to the electronica-freak out roots we were once known for. 'Epic' might be a good way to describe it."

The band has also announced the first tour dates of 2008, starting with an East Coast run from the band's former home in the Northeast, to the Southeast, where the band is now based. Fans can expect to hear lots of new songs from both Apocalypse Cow Vol. 2, and the forthcoming Will Bradford solo album, as well as further improvements on the already visually stunning combination of moving lights and video screens. - more on this story

Colour Revolt Debut
PR reports: Oxford, MS gloominaries Colour Revolt are extremely excited for the release of their long-awaited full-length debut, Plunder, Beg, and Curse on new label home, Fat Possum on April 1st. For this album, the band has collaborated once more with producer and friend Clay Jones (Modest Mouse, Elvis Costello) at Sweet Tea Recording studio in Oxford. Plunder is the followup to the band's self-titled EP, released by local label Esperanza Plantation, with a re-release by Tiny Evil, an imprint of Interscope (Nine Black Alps, Jimmy Eat World) in October, 2006.

Colour Revolt's name is derived from Edwin Abbott's 19th century social commentary, Flatland, an exploration of life in two dimensions. But Colour Revolt is far from two-dimensional, eschewing Fletchers familiar sonic assault of unorthodox song structures and time signatures for a more melancholic though equally guitar-driven aesthetic of the post-grunge Southern gothic. The band's thematic impulse reflects the literary heritage of their native Oxford, Miss., channeling the jagged emotionality and moral ambiguity of the locales forefathers, William Faulkner and Barry Hannah. - more on this story
