The New Wolfmother
Filter reports: Wolfmother are back, with a different lineup, a new album, and a new single. "New Moon Rising," the first single off Cosmic Egg is a psych-rock anthem, fueled by hefty guitar licks and the power of singer Andrew Stockdale's arena-worthy voice.

The seeds for Cosmic Egg were sown when the touring cycle for the debut record came to a close, and front man and guitarist Andrew Stockdale sat down to start from scratch at his home studio in Brisbane. Following an extensive gestation period and the enlistment of new band members, Stockdale and his band, with producer Alan Moulder, rode ashore in the transcendental city of Byron Bay, Australia, to begin pre-production.

In support of Cosmic Egg, the newly re-formed band- (Stockdale [Vocals/Guitar], Ian Peres [Bass/Keys], Aidan Nemeth [Guitar], and Dave Atkins [Drums]) will journey across the USA in support of The Killers through late August / early September. - more on this story

Cattle Decapitation Lose Member but Gain Tour with Soulfly and Prong
Metal Blade reports: An update from Cattle Decapitation front man, Travis Ryan: "It is time to announce a few things that have been going on in the Cattle Decapitation camp. First off, we have officially parted ways with bassist Troy Oftedal due to musical and personal differences. There is no bad blood and we wish him the best of luck. Filling in on upcoming tours will be our friend Rahsaan Davis. You may have seen him on our recent tour as Troy left tour early due to a physical ailment."

Cattle Decapitation has been keeping busy throughout 2009 supporting what has been unanimously declared by press and fans as their best record, The Harvest Floor. This fall will be no exception. San Diego's finest death/grind torch bearers have just confirmed an October tour with legendary metal acts, Soulfly and Prong.

Travis Ryan comments, "We'll be hitting the road in late September with Soulfly, Prong and Mutiny Within for a US tour! Starting in our neck of the woods, the tour will lead us across the country, along the east coast and back home. We have a handful of dates already and there are more on the way! We here at Cattle Decapitation are all about diversity. So when we were asked to do the Soulfly/Prong tour we said "why not!?" I for one am very excited to see Prong. I've never seen them live and when I was in 7th and 8th grade they were one of my favorite bands! True, a very interesting lineup, but that's awesome as our last couple albums have proved we definitely like to switch things up to keep things interesting. - more on this story

Eels Make Online Transmission
PR reports: Check out MySpace Music's latest "Transmissions" session featuring EELS. The session was recorded at the Village Recorder in Los Angeles (a classic studio used by Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Supertramp, Steely Dan and many more).

Four of the recordings from the MySpace "Transmissions" session are re-records from the band's latest body of work titled HOMBRE LOBO, as well as a cover of Bob Dylan's "Girl From the North Country" and the song "My Beloved Monster" from the 1996 album Beautiful Freak.

LoveHateHero Return with America Underwater
PR reports: Ferret Records will release LoveHateHero's new album America Underwater on September 29. Here is a little about the effort to wet your appetite:

At the end of 2008, LoveHateHero felt like it was time to step outside the boundaries they had created for themselves with their previous efforts. After building a solid fan base with their first two albums, Just Breathe and White Lies, which they had supported by touring nationally with such acts as Chiodos, Funeral for a Friend, and Scary Kids Scaring Kids, the band, despite all its hard work, felt like it had not quite hit its stride. Even after White Lies sold over 20,000 copies in the U.S. and drew the attention of magazines like Alternative Press and Outburn, something wasn't quite right and they knew it.

While writing songs for their newest release America Underwater, the band retooled their sound. The result was a record that focuses more on their well-developed vocal melodies and cleanly polished hooks. Nearly reinventing itself as a whole, the group dropped a lot of the edginess from its songs, using it sparingly instead of as a crutch to rest on. For this release, "maturing as songwriters" wasn't just a clich.

The Devil Went Home and Puked For Guided by Voices
MVD reports: Rockathon and MVD Visual are pleased to announce the release of The Devil Went Home and Puked on DVD for worldwide distribution on October 20, 2009.

As one of the most respected and enduring alt-rock bands of all time, Guided by Voices almost single-handedly kicked off the decade's "low fi" craze of the 1990's - on the strength of such classics as Propeller and Bee Thousand - making fans out of such renowned artists as Eddie Vedder and the Strokes in the process. And soon, the now-defunct group will be showcased on a career-encompassing DVD of live footage, The Devil Went Home and Puked.

A "video collage," if you will, of nearly every era of GBV and Robert Pollard tours ('94- present) and early GBV studio footage will be featured. Also, The Devil Went Home and Puked will contain nine hard to find full length videos from GBV and Pollard-related projects, including such ditties as "Circle Saw Boys Club," "Winston's Atomic Bird," "I-Razors," "Get Me Extra," and more. Get ready to view GBV in a whole new way with The Devil Went Home and Puked.

Girlie Men Beware: Double The Austrian Death Machine Trouble Coming
PR reports: Austrian Death Machine to release "Double Brutal" this fall! The heaviest metal band in the world (by sheer mass) has finished their follow up to Total Brutal - get ready for Double Brutal! Not satisfied with the limitations offered by putting out a single disc album, Ahhnold demanded two full cds full of muscle pumping metal! When asked why they needed two discs and why he thought that was best, he quickly replied, "Two discs made it heavy and brutal enough to crush our enemies, see them driven before us, and to hear the lamentations of their women!!!"

Double Brutal is packed with more "juice" than a professional athlete. Disc one features soon to be classics See You At The Party Richter, and Let Off Some Steam Bennett. Disc two is crammed full of metal covers, complete with Ahhnold's take on them, including Metallica's Trapped Under Ice and Killing Is My Businessand Business Is Good by none other than Megadeth.

Austrian Death Machine guitarist, bassist, drummer and vocalist, Tim Lambesis adds: "Most bands sit around in a rehearsal room for a few years to put out a 10 song album and do a tour supporting that release. I've been a busy touring with As I Lay Dying and traveled everywhere this year besides Antarctica, but in the five minutes that I was home between tours I decided to put together a double disc of Ahhnold inspired brutality called Double Brutal. Also, Ed Repka (the legend behind the artwork for Megadeth) did an amazing job on this album cover." - more on this story

The Dear & Departed Ink with Emo Friendly Label
PR reports: The Dear & Departed, have signed to Equal Vision Records. The band recently wrapped up recording with New Found Glory guitarist, Chad Gilbert (H2O, Fireworks), and will release the new material as a digital EP and 7" later this year and tour to support.

"EVR have always supported us and after constant frustration with other labels, we feel it's a great decision," expressed vocalist, Dan Smith (aka Dan Under). "That's all you can really ask for these days, honest support. We have all been fans of EVR bands since we were young and its nice to have that history and nostalgia with a label, even though so much has changed over the years."

In their short existence as a band, the Orange County transplants Smith (vocals), Darren Parkinson (guitar), Cortney Miner (guitar), and Jimmy Walsh (drums) have built a devoted following and boast quite a story. There have been many triumphs for The Dear & Departed, including sharing stages with Saosin, Norma Jean, Tiger Army, AFI and Avenged Sevenfold, as well as patronage from platinum bands (like AFI, who invited Smith to sing on 2007's Decemberunderground) and mutual respect from cult artists alike. - more on this story
