The Melvins All Mixed Up
PR reports: The Melvins will release Chicken Switch, a 15-song remix cd with a twist, on Sept. 29 via Ipecac Recordings. Unlike usual remix cds where the remixer is given a single track to work with, for Chicken Switch each remixer was given a full album to work with and pull from to create their track (and in some cases, more than one full album was used as source material). The song names were also newly selected by their remixer.

Chicken Switch track listing and remixer: 1. Washmachine Sk8tronics - Eye Yamatsuka 2. Emperor Twaddle Reemix - Christoph Heeman 3. She Chokes Her Dying Breadn and Does It In my Face - V/VM 4. AAHHH... - John Duncan 5. Linksh δnder - Matmos 6. EggNog Trilogy i) She's Ivanhoe ii) Cancer iii) Inebriated - Lee Ranaldo 7. SNOW REM REM IBVZ - Merzbow 8. Prick Concrete/Revolution M - David Scott Stone 9. Queen (Electroclash Remix) - Panaceea 10. The Melvins are heading out in support of Down this August/September. They will also be doing a handful of dates on their own as well as a stop at the Sept. 12 ATP Fest in Monticello, New York. - more on this story

Richard Hell to Deliver Destiny Street Repaired
PR reports: On September 1st 2009, twenty-seven years after its original recording, Insound and Richard Hell will be releasing Destiny Street Repaired, an improved version of Richard's second, and final, studio album with The Voidoids.

The original album, out of print for five years, features some of his most essential songs including "The Kid With the Replaceable Head," "Time" and "Downtown at Dawn." Incredibly, Destiny Street Repaired features rescued rhythm tracks from the 1982 sessions along with brand new vocals by Richard and extraordinary new lead guitar parts from three legendary players: Marc Ribot, Bill Frisell and original Voidoid Ivan Julian.

Destiny Street Repaired has been a project nearly thirty years in the making, a challenging, but ultimately thrilling rescue of what should have been the great second Richard Hell and the Voidoids album. "Destiny Street Repaired better represents the intentions of the original 1982 sessions than does the 'Destiny Street' that was released that year," according to Richard. - more on this story

Gorgoroth Finish New Album
PR reports: The ninth Gorgoroth album, "Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt," is complete. The album was recorded in Tomas Asklund's Monolith Studio and features Infernus on guitars, Frank Watkins on bass, Pest on vocals and Tomas Asklund on drums.

Since Infernus wrote all the music and because of all the rehearsals and pre-recording prior to the return of second guitarist Tormentor last year, it was decided that it would be more convenient for Infernus to record all guitars on the album.

"Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt" was produced by Infernus and co-produced/engineered by Tomas Asklund. It will be mastered at Cutting Room Studios in Stockholm this month and released via Regain Records on October 21st in Europe and November 11th in the US. - more on this story

School Of Seven Bells Are Now Vagrant
Vagrant reports: Vagrant Records is thrilled to announce a new partnership with Brooklyn, NY-based School Of Seven Bells and their label Ghostly International. Vagrant Records/Ghostly International will be re-releasing School of Seven Bells' 2008 full-length debut album, Alpinisms on July 14.

Benjamin Curtis and sisters Alejandra and Claudia Deheza formed School of Seven Bells just over three years ago after their previous bands (Secret Machines and On!Air!Library!) toured together. The group signed to Ghostly International in early 2008 and released Alpinisms on October 28.

"When the three of us and the Ghostly guys met with Vagrant, we knew it was the right fit for all of us," explained Curtis. "We feel really lucky that we've had the success we've had so far with our music, but it seems like there are a lot of people out there who might still have a place for this music in their lives and I hope they get the chance. Mazzy Star's Hope Sandoval Releasing New Album With My Bloody Valentine Star
Nettwerk reports: Since the release of Mazzy Star's debut album She Hangs Brightly, Hope Sandoval has defined the sound and style of California psychedelic dream pop. The world took notice when the breakthrough single "Fade Into You" (from sophomore album So Tonight That I Might See) hit the airwaves and MTV heavy rotation.

Sandoval's trademark vocals helped to make her a modern day music icon. Now the revered singer returns along side My Bloody Valentine's Colm O'Ciosoig to deliver her long awaited sophomore album Through The Devil Softly on September 1.

An extensive North American tour is planned for Fall 09, with dates in the UK and Europe to follow. - more on this story

School of Rock Tour
PR reports: The Paul Green School of Rock All-Stars are returning to their roots this summer for their first Southeast tour of the U.S., reaching back to the classrooms to show future All-Stars first-hand what it's taken to make them the best and brightest students from 49 schools nationwide.

By stressing education along the way, the School of Rock All-Stars are re-emphasizing what has turned the Paul Green School of Rock into a bona fide movement over the past decade ? changing the way music is taught in America. At every stop on the tour, the School of Rock All-Stars are looking toward corresponding local schools for their opening acts wherever they go, from traditional rock clubs or to baseball stadiums. The tour launches Friday, July 17 in Deerfield Beach, FL and continues through Miami, Atlanta, Nashville, Asheville, Charlotte and more, including pre-game Major League Baseball concerts at the home stadiums of the Flordia Marlins and Atlanta Braves. Throughout the South, the School of Rock All-Stars will be playing an incredible variety of classic rock from the 1960s to 1990s, ABBA to Zappa.

Green is completely excited to bring the finest young musicians in the country to these brand new areas and have them reconnect with the schools and their students in these new markets. "The South," he says, "is going to be blown away"

. The Lonely H - Concrete Class
Concrete Class has an undeniable retro vibe from beginning to end. Its almost like this disc was sealed in a time capsule in the mid 70s and sat fermenting until 2009 when the capsule was opened up for our listening pleasure. (4.5 stars) - Read the full The Lonely H - Concrete Class review
