Elton John Biopic Coming
(Gibson) Elton John is about to become the latest musical great to have a Hollywood biopic made about his life. But, he says, don't expect the film to be a straight-forward retelling, like Ray or Walk the Line.

"It will be more of a fantasy, Moulin Rouge-type of stuff," he told BBC Radio 2. "My life's been so surreal, from buying a football club to God knows what."

The untitled film is being written by Lee Hall, who worked together with John on the musical version of Billy Elliot. Hall also wrote the screenplay for the movie version. There's no word yet on who will be starring as the rock legend.

Ozzy Goes Disney
(hennemusic) Ozzy Osbourne has probably been animated for most of his life, but now it'll be on the big screen in a new Disney film.

Ozzy plays the role of Fawn, and we get our first glimpse of his character in a clip that aired during an interview Ozzy did last Thursday for KTTV (FOX 11)'s "Good Day LA." Wanna see?

Red Singled Out Week: Feed The Machine
Red roar back this week with the release of their new album, Until We Have Faces. To celebrate the release we asked Anthony Armstrong to pick some of his favorite tracks from the release and tell us about them. Here is today's song: Feed The Machine:

This is my favorite song on the record hands down. There is a sarcastic element to it that I love. Every day we see more and more people transformed by the world around them. A lot of them are extremely vulnerable and can't even muster an intellectual defense against these ideals. Rather, they end up becoming someone they never wanted to be because the world tells them that it's important to "have this, buy that, look like this, and act like this." We have a heart for those that struggle with their own identity. This song is a wakeup call. Don't feed it, kill it. Destroy those ideals and define the world for yourself.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!

Rolling Stones' Glastonbury?
(Gibson) The online rumor mill has been in a frenzy over who might be taking the three headlining slots at the Glastonbury Festival, which will be held at Worthy Farm in Somerset, England, from June 22-26. So when The Rolling Stones' tongue logo appeared on Glastonbury website pilton.com this week, plenty of tongues got to wagging about whether or not the Stones might be performing at the festival.

After all, Ronnie Wood told reporters last year, "I'd love to [play Glastonbury]. I'm always up for the festivals. As far as the Stones are concerned we haven't had a get-together for three years but it's high time."

Festival organizer Emily Eavis confirmed on her Twitter page that all three headliners have been booked but said, "Third headliner just confirmed, we will announce [the lineup] in spring." more on this story

Alice Cooper Puzzled By Plant's Led Zeppelin Reunion Rejection
(Rock AAA) Alice Cooper has revealed his bemusement at Robert Plant's reluctance to perform Led Zeppelin hits. Plant has gone on record to suggest he is too old to sing the legendary band's songs but Cooper, who recently turned 63, tells Examiner.com he can't relate to his reasoning.

He says: "I go out on stage and say 'turn it up' and I never get tired of playing my songs. They are just standing there. What is so hard? Jimmy Page wants to do it. John Paul Jones wants to do it. And they got Bonham's son (Jason), who is a killer drummer. All they need is Robert Plant. But what is Robert Plant out there doing? Playing folk music. What is he doing?"

Plant recently expressed his fears he was too old to do his old hits justice in an interview with Rolling Stone despite confessing he loved being involved with the 2007 reunion shows. more on this story

KISS Anniversary
Sunday marked the anniversary of KISS. Gibson takes a look back: After recently changing their name from Wicked Lester, Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss made their first appearance as KISS at the Popcorn Club in Queens, New York.

A cold call to a club in Queens called the Popcorn Club and some fast talking by Simmons scored the group a three-night stand (two sets a night) at the venue, from January 30 through February 1, for a flat fee of $150. The first night of the stand gave almost no portent of the massive success to come. The group played to three people during their first set and no more than 10 over the course of the evening. The next two days were hardly better.

During the performances, one other crucial component was lacking (besides an audience). While the music very quickly melded into that now-familiar KISS '70s sound, the look specifically, the makeup was nowhere in sight. It would, however, make its debut five weeks later. Just a few weeks after that, the band would record a five-song demo that would start their meteoric rise to the top of rock stardom. Considering how long it took their previous band to make its half-hearted leap at the brass ring, KISS's ascent was not unlike the lightning in their logo. more on this story

Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody
(Gibson) It was on this day in 1976 that Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody," the first rock-opera song in history with the cheeky gumption to utter the phrase "mama mia, mama mia!", was actually knocked out of the top spot by, interestingly enough, ABBA's "Mamma Mia." Gibson takes a look back: Freddy Mercury wrote the bulk of his rock-opera masterpiece "Bohemian Rhapsody" at his home in Holland Road, Kensington, in west London. The nearly six-minute-long song was included on the band's groundbreaking 1975 album A Night at the Opera, and it would go on to sell well over a million copies on its way to become Queen's most successful song.

The song's producer, Roy Thomas Baker, spoke about how Freddie initially played him the opening ballad of the song on the piano: "He played the beginning on the piano, then stopped and said, 'And this is where the opera section comes in!'" Queen had a history of writing much of their material in the studio, but with "Bohemian Rhapsody," guitarist Brian May said that the song was "very much in Freddie's mind" before they started playing with it in the studio. May felt that the epic song was "intriguing and original, and worthy of work."

Intending the song to be something of a "mock opera," Mercury wanted it to fall well outside the bounds of traditional rock song structure, and he succeeded. After a three-week rehearsal in Herefordshire in the summer of 1975, recording for "Bohemian Rhapsody" began at Rockfield Studio 1 near Monmouth on April 24, 1975. Four additional studios were used to complete the song, including Roundhouse, SARM (East), Scorpion and Wessex. Mercury had such a clear vision of the song during its recording that he was able to direct the band throughout the sessions. Numerous sections were recorded separately with a drum click being the only glue holding it together. more on this story

Marillion Double Album and Double DVD Releases
Eagle Rock Entertainment, through earMusic, have announced the release of Marillion - Live From Cadogan Hall a 2CD set and double DVD to be released on March 29.

This fantastic live show, filmed in high definition, was recorded on the final night of their 2009 "Less Is More" tour, at London's prestigious Cadogan Hall. The show is divided into two sets. The first is dedicated to 2009's Less Is More album, in which they deconstructed and reinvented chosen songs from their back catalogue into alternative acoustic versions. In the second set, they revisit ten other classic Marillion tracks, reinvented in the same spirit.

Redesigning the chord sequences and arrangements of their original songs, Marillion created lush, minimalist-yet-powerful adaptations, accentuated by soaring melodies and haunting rhythms. This experimental approach expanded the band's instrumentation, including dulcimer, autoharp, celeste, glockenspiel, xylophone, and pipe organ, revealing the musical flexibility and depth of this extraordinary rock 5-piece.
