Metal Star Impersonator Tried To Kill Girl
(Banana 101.5) After a full fledged on-stage brawl at Bring Me the Horizon's show in Salt Lake City this week, A man impersonating singer Oli Sykes allegedly lured a girl from America to Britain and then tried to kill her.

According to UK newspaper 'Daily Mail', David Russell has been jailed for life after attempting to murder a 19-year old Maricar Benedicto. Russell met the American teen on Facebook last year, claiming that he was BMTH vocalist Oli Sykes.

After ongoing communication via the internet, Benedicto flew from California to the UK to see him. Shortly after she arrived, Russell took her to a forest and convinced her to wear a blindfold claiming he had a gift for her. "Gift" must carry a different meaning overseas Russell then slit her throat, stabbed her in the back four times, headbutted and hit her in the face with a log. more on this story

New Queen Singer Options Include Lady Gaga and TV Show
(hennemusic) Queen's "Radio Ga Ga" might turn out to be more than just a song, if guitarist Brian May has his way. The Daily Express reports Queen are in talks with Lady Gaga to work with the pop star, and maybe even tour together.

At the London BMI Awards Tuesday, where Queen were honored with the Icon Award, May spoke about where the legendary band might be headed. "We talk about going out on the road all the time, but there's a bit of a singer problem, to put it mildly," said May. "We get a lot of offers to work with other people. I worked with Lady Gaga and she's very creative, and is someone we've talked about singing, fronting the band with. She's not just a singer, she writes her own material."

He also said that 25-year-old Gaga isn't the only person he has considered. "We have talked about doing duets with other people and, in a strange way, I almost pressed the yes button. We were debating the idea of a TV show where we have all these guest stars. We didn't press it, today, but we are still looking at it. Lady Gaga has said she would like to do something with us." more on this story

McCartney: The Beatles Would Have Reunited
(Gibson) The Beatles parted ways in 1969 amid fatigue, conflict and even some bitterness, leaving behind a legacy of the most celebrated musical enterprise in rock and roll history. Thankfully, the guys patched things up in the 1970s, and had all of the members survived a bit longer, Paul McCartney says, eventually, the band would have properly reunited.

"If John [Lennon] and George [Harrison] were still here, it's highly likely we would've had a Beatles reunion," Sir McCartney told the Daily Express, "I think we would've mellowed to the point where we would've said, 'Come on, let's do it.'

"The thing was whenever we got together, no matter if we were arguing, we played great," the 69-year-old added. "We knew each other so well; we read each other It would've been great, but I'm not a great believer in 'What if?' You can't do it, but I suppose it's nice to speculate." more on this story

Kurt Cobain Attempted Suicide Several Times
(Banana 101.5) Courtney Love may be trying to stir up some buzz for her forthcoming tell-all memoir, but in a recent interview she claims Kurt Cobain attempted to kill himself a few times before succeeding.

Hole vocalist Courtney Love and Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain shared three years together and gave birth to a daughter before the troubled icon took his own life. It's not a big jump in reasoning to assume that Love saw an entirely different side of Cobain that few (maybe no) others knew.

It was recently announced that Courtney would be writing a tell-all memoir that would "set the record straight" about Cobain. In her new interview with Vanity Fair, the outspoken singer-actress started the aforementioned "record straightening" a little early. When asked if she was angry at Kurt for taking his life.... read her reply here

More Guns N' Roses Reunion Talk
(hennemusic) Gilby Clarke was doing an audience Q&A last weekend at Rockmssan in Malm, Sweden, when the subject of a Guns N' Roses reunion came up.

"I've always said if it's really a real reunion where Slash is involved, then I would do it, but I probably feel the same that you guys feel," Gilby replied.

"I think most people wanna see the original five [members] with Izzy [Stradlin, guitar] and Steven [Adler, drums] and I agree; that was a great band. But if they want other people myself and Matt [Sorum, drums], then I would do it. But I would only do it if Slash was involved." more on this story

Judas Priest Already Have New Songs Ready
(hennemusic) With one head in the present, Judas Priest vocalist Rob Halford is also looking forward to the band's next album.

"I think one of the things that we seriously considered was how to maintain the longevity of Priest, and one of the ways of doing that is just to cut back a little bit on these intense tours that we do," Halford tells SoundSpike. "We're still going to stay focused on recording and writing new songs; as you may have heard we have a new album coming out sometime next year."

The project will feature new material that he and guitarist Glenn Tipton penned in the first quarter of the year. It will be the follow-up to band's 2008 concept album "Nostradamus." more on this story

Throwdown Recruit Bleeding Through and Demon Hunter Members for Tour
Throwdown have announced their band lineup for the upcoming Brawloween tour that will feature from Carnifex, First Blood, and Suffokate

Throwdown's touring lineup for the trek will feature Dave Peters (vocals) (Throwdown 2000 - present), Mark Mitchell (bass) (Throwdown 2007 - present), Davie Nassie (guitar) (Bleeding Through / ex-No Use For A Name) and Tim "Yogi" Watts (drums) (Demon Hunter, ex-The Showdown).

Frontman Dave Peters had this to say: "I can't say I love having a chronically fragmented lineup for Throwdown, but it does leave the door open for cool opportunities like this. I'm VERY happy to be playing these shows with Yogi and Nassie as 'special guests' or whatever you want to call them under the circumstances. They're great guys and equally great musicians. It will be a cool thing for fans of the three bands too, as it's hard to say if or when we'd share a stage in the future. The only drawback is running the risk of them setting the sound bar too high for the next time we play in our backyard". more on this story

"I've always been fascinated by the darker side of life," Schaffer said. "Movies like Metropolis, Brazil, and The Matrix resonate with me. Singled Out: Glyder's Don't Make Their Mistakes
Today Jackie Robinson from Glyder tells us about "Don't Make Their Mistakes" from their forthcoming album "Backroads to Byzantium," which is set to hit stores on October 25th. Here is the story:

It was a really difficult decision for me to single out one track; I love each song on the album for different reasons. Our new album "Backroads to Byzantium" has quite a bit of variety, it definitely rocks but I feel there is more to it than just that.

The song I'd like to talk about is "Don't Make Their Mistakes". This is one of the tracks off the album that holds personal significance for me; the subject matter regards the issue that has affected so many people in Northern Ireland. Regardless of what some people would like you to believe, the religious/political divide is still firmly in place. I know this is old news; the worrying thing is though that it seems to be getting worse, I see more unjust hatred in the youth now than I've ever seen before. So many kids are being bombarded by bigoted and prejudiced narrow-minded views from their parents; the religious segregation of some of our communities does nothing to stop this perpetuating either. Thankfully I was lucky enough to grow up in a family that didn't express those views, and I was allowed to form opinions for myself. It's seems crazy to me that this kind of sectarianism still exists today, even crazier that known terrorists are allowed to have political control. My family and friends have been directly affected by the "troubles"; they have affected the lives of so many decent people. If no one acts and things stay the way they are then this madness will just keep continuing. I'm under no illusions of my control of this situation (which is none), but maybe if this song helps to change one persons view then I've done a little good.

Due to the geographical distance between the members of the band now, we had to take a slightly different approach to the way we went about writing the songs for this album. We had to work on the songs using home recording software sending our ideas back and forth via email; you can watch a short documentary about how we made the album on Youtube. (Glyder- writing for "Backroads to Byzantium").

"Don't Make Their Mistakes" kicks off with a short ominous bass intro before your hit by the riffing guitars, and driving force of the drums. The vocals come in around the 20second mark with real grit and authority (if I do say so myself ha-ha). You will hear a heart filled vocal, with lots of emotion. You will not hear an angst filled performance as we're not a metal band, and it wouldn't suit the track. The tone and mood of the song is set by this point. Then it comes to the catchy chorus and bridge, before you come to the soaring guitar solo.

This track and a couple of others on the album are a bit of a departure from the original line-up sound, but due to great twin guitar work of Bat and Pete you still know its Glyder. "Don't Make Their Mistakes" is a great rockin song, that like the rest of the album you'll find hard to get out of your head!

Glyder are back on a new journey, will you follow us??

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!
