"As for the rumor of the brothers breaking up after 45 years, in other words, after this year," he said, without being asked about that rumor, "that is a rumor. We are not breaking up. We are replacing Derek Trucks."
Guitarists Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes announced that they will leave the band at year's end a few weeks ago, and soon after that announcement, Gregg told Relix that the band would be calling it a day after 2014.

Led Zeppelin I comes previously with a previously unreleased live performance recorded on October 10, 1969 at the Olympia Theatre in Paris. It's rumoured that Greek singer Nana Mouskouri was in the audience of the Olympia that night. "I never knew that," laughs Page. "Maybe we should have asked her up for a jam"

The duo, along with Nirvana touring member Pat Smear, hit metal bar Saint Vitus Thursday night (April 10) to play a secret show of the band's hits and not-so-hits that included three of the four ladies from their Rock Hall induction performance (Lorde was like naaah) and a few additional friends.
Just as they did at the Barclays Center, the band kicked off the evening of music with "Smells Like Teen Spirit," covered faithfully by Joan Jett. Jett stuck around for five songs in all to start the set, also filling in on "In Bloom" and "All Apologies," the latter with Novoselic on accordion, before Dinosaur Jr.'s J. Mascis jumped behind the mic for three tunes, including "Drain You."
St. Vincent, who rocked out "Lithium" with the band at the induction, revisited the track for the second performance while also adding "About a Girl" and "Heart-Shaped Box." Then there was John McCauley of Deer Tick filling in on a five-song string of non-single tunes like "Tourette's" and "Scentless Apprentice."
It was Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon who finished off the evening, and like McCauley, she stuck mostly to the back catalog with "Aneurysm," "Negative Creep" and, finally, "Moist Vagina."
All in all, the group roared through 19 of the '90s rock royalty's songs before reportedly wrapping up at 4 a.m., according to Brooklyn Vegan.
The late finish followed a whirlwind day, during which Grohl and Novoselic, drummer and bassist, respectively, of the band, were inducted into the Rock Hall in the ceremony's closing moments.
""Don't look at the poster on your wall and say 'I could never do that,'" Grohl told the audience during his acceptance speech. "Look at it and say, 'I'm gonna do that!"

The bands will be conducting a nationwide search for the veterans they will select as roadies via the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation Hiring 500,000 Heroes campaign.
Paul Stanley of KISS had this to say, "It is our privilege to draw attention to the obligation we all have to the brave men and women who volunteer to risk their own lives to protect the liberties and freedom that we all take for granted. We should all jump at any opportunity to provide any assistance needed by our warriors. Heroes deserve jobs!"
Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliot adds, "Having our own wounded warrior in Rick Allen, we've always had a close tie with the military. To carry on and further our contribution by giving a little back, and hopefully helping fulfill a dream or two, we're more than happy to show our support."
Two years ago KISS was part of a similar campaign where they selected Paul Jordan to act as their roadie for their summer tour. Jordan had this to say, "I know now that life exists after military service. You just have to find something you're passionate about and go get it. There is a world of opportunity out there."
Eric Eversole, executive director of Hiring Our Heroes, said "We are thrilled to work with KISS, Def Leppard, and all of the great partners teaming up to find two veterans for this amazing opportunity," Eversole said. "Our team saw firsthand how much Paul Jordan's life changed when he toured with KISS. We applaud both bands for their continued dedication to the military community, and we hope others are inspired to follow their lead and hire military members and their spouses."
Veterans who wish to apply for the positions can go to Military.com/Heroes for more information. All applications must be received by Friday, May 9th at 11:59 p.m. Military.com will work with KISS and Def Leppard to select the final two veterans.

The band released this statement about the changes, "We are here today to announce that Oli Beaudoin will remain behind the throne as the drummer for Kataklysm on the next album and future tours.
"Max has informed that he cannot continue or return to the ranks at this time due to physical health issues. Kataklysm welcomes Oli on board as we forge on. Max remains our brother and will always be a part of Kataklysm.
"Those who saw him in Montreal playing the 'Road to Devastation' with us at the end of the show, saw that even with severe pain the boy still has the chops to perform. We wish him well and know our paths will cross again."
Duhamel had this to say about his decision to leave the band, "After facing my problems head on this last year and having many sessions of therapy, I'm glad to say I have my alcohol intake under control now. I can happily have a beer or two here and there, or none at all, and totally be functional without any worries. I'm a much happier man and more focused than ever. I do terribly miss my boys in Kataklysm (the touring and making albums with them etc.) but while I was under therapy I decided to fix other issues with my health as well: the physical part this time.
"I always had shooting pains in my left arm, but I dealt with it in silence and kept it from everyone. Sometimes it would go numb and my wrist and entire arm would lock up during concerts. It gave me anxiety and made me angry which didn't help my mental state. I'm currently going through rehabilitation to restore my arm to the best of its abilities, but I cannot give the Kataklysm songs justice at the moment. It wouldn't be fair to the boys, and it wouldn't be fair to the fans and myself to continue. I need to take care of my health 100% before I can consider playing on a pro level again, like I know I'm capable of doing. We will see what the future holds. There's always a surprise in the air waiting to happen.
"I'll keep in touch with all my fans and friends through my personal Facebook. Thank you for the incredible support and all the kind words; they really helped to lift my spirits during these hard times."
Beaudoin adds this about joining the group, "I'm stoked to now officially be welcomed as a permanent member of Kataklysm. The last two years with the guys have been a real blast. J-F, Maurizio and Steph are coolest bandmates I've had the chance to be with. The last album we wrote together in 2013 also proved that we share a common musical vision for this band. I'm just thrilled to pursue this endeavor and help push this band to a new level for the years to come."
The ailing bluesman's family last week appealed for more financial help after it was revealed he was the victim of two opposing health guidelines. Once his fitness score was high enough for him to survive the surgery, it meant he was also dropped lower down the list to receive it.
Now Marie reports: "Walter has just been accepted as a patient at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. This means a much shorter wait for a new liver than what was the case in LA."

"It was a concept album and it wasn't a heavy rock and roll record," Ace explains. "KISS is known for their theatrics and heavy rock and roll songs and it was a complete departure from that. I was just thinking to myself what would have happened if we went in and did (1982's) 'Creatures Of The Night' (album) and the whole Elder concept was scrapped: I may not have left the group."
Frehley was also unhappy with producer Bob Ezrin, who was brought in to do the project following his success with Pink Floyd's 1979 concept album, "The Wall."
"I disagreed with him and the band on many issues [regarding the project]," Frehley wrote in his 2011 memoir, "No Regrets." "I could see it from the beginning. I had the street smarts and common sense to take a giant step back and look at the project with an objective eye, and I knew it was a colossal mistake in judgment. Paul, Gene, and Bob didn't get it. They went forward with the whole ridiculous concept."
"To be perfectly candid, I never fully understood what the hell this record was supposed to be about," he wrote. "Gene had written some kind of story, and there was talk of turning it into a feature-length movie or animated film or something. Even after the Kiss Meets the Phantom catastrophe, Gene was fascinated with Hollywood culture. Ezrin stoked the fire by suggesting that Gene's little story be used as the basis for some sort of big multimedia, cross-platform vehicle for KISS. Part of the plan, apparently, was a "concept" record."

The band's 16-song set in Los Angeles opened with "I Know How To Die" (from 2011's "The World Is Yours"), and wrapped up with Slash on two encores: Motorhead's signature tune, "Ace Of Spades", and "Overkill."

The band had this to say about their new guitarist, "Timing was perfect when we met Matt and everything just seemed to fall into place at the right time when we needed a replacement. Matt is very laid back, has a captivating stage presence, and his riffs are electrifying! If you've ever seen him live with Pentagram, you'll know what we are talking about."

Now that the media hubbub surrounding the Coen Brothers' Inside Llewyn Davis - based loosely on the life of Dave Van Ronk - has settled down, the time is perfect to take a closer look at the real Dave Van Ronk. Regarded as a pioneer of the folk-blues movement that took over Greenwich Village in the late 1950s, Van Ronk could not be tied to just one genre. He moved from ballads to jazz to rock. His finger-picking style of guitar playing is still studied and emulated. And, in 1998, after 50 years of performing music, the Mayor of MacDougal Street was still mesmerizing crowds.
Live in Monterey was recorded at Monterey, Calif.'s Carleton Hall, the album works both as a retrospective and an introduction. The 16 tracks include traditional numbers, blues classics and originals, touching on every aspect of what makes Van Ronk revered by musicians of every generation. The album features just Dave, his voice and his guitar. That's all that's needed.
"Dave's voice is a wonder," writes set co-producer Rick Chelew (who recorded the set) in his liner notes, "going from a delicate, almost feminine whisper to a powerful frightening growl that would make a punk-rocker shut up and listen - sometimes within the same song."
Fellow Greenwich Village folk denizen Happy Traum, who also contributed liner notes to Live in Monterey, observes: "Those of us who had a chance to know Dave Van Ronk were treated to a larger than life, contradictory, ultimately lovable personality. He was generous, opinionated, sharply intelligent, hypercritical, hospitable, cranky, an unapologetic Trotskyite communist, a sci-fi aficionado, a musical polymath with wide-ranging tastes, a darn good cook, and a friend, mentor, and teacher to many a young, aspiring guitarist."
"At one point in his career," Traum continues, "Dave would surely have liked to become famous, but he lived his life and made his music on his own terms an settled reluctantly for being a 'legend.' The irony is that none of his peers, no matter how commercially successful they became, were dubbed 'The Mayor of MacDougal Street,' had a Greenwich Village street named after them, or are remembered with such affection."
Yes, there have been other live Van Ronk releases, but all live performances are not equal, and it was a stroke of good luck that tape was rolling in this old Monterey church when the artist, in fine form, played an extraordinary set. "As soon as Dave started to play it was clear that this was one of those rare occasions ," says Chelew. Van Ronk's widow Andrea Vuocolo, who attended countless Van Ronk shows, concurs, recalling it as "a particularly strong performance."

The clip the track from the band's groundbreaking 1978 self-titled debut follows recently-posted clips from Fresno shows in 1978 and 1979 that were remastered frame by frame in uncompressed HD "from my original Fuji single-8 films", according to the source. The release of "Van Halen II" recently marked its 35th anniversary; the follow-up to the group's groundbreaking 1978 debut was recorded at Sunset Sound Recorders in Hollywood less than a week after the end of the band's first world tour.
Van Halen kicked off their "World Vacation Tour" in Fresno two days after the sophomore album's release; the band went on to play 97 shows by the time the trek wrapped up October 7, 1979 at The Forum in Inglewood, California.

The Cult's 11-song, 50-minute show opened with a pair of vintage tracks, including "Rain" from 1985's "Love" album and "Spiritwalker" from 1984's "Dreamtime" release.
The show was heavy on singles by the group, as familiarity often plays well to festival crowds. A three-song rally of heavy tunes completed the performance: "Wild Flower", "She Sells Sanctuary" and "Love Removal Machine."

"He doesn't really like doing interviews," McCartney said of his former bandmate in this interview. "Sometimes, it can be a pressure. You'd rather be out playing in the park and then you've got to sit and do an interview." Ah, the life of rock stars.
Harrison had historically been the Beatle who least enjoyed the promotional grind, and McCartney acknowledged that in this interview, saying "George was always more forthright than us, he'd just say, 'I don't want to do it.'"
"He's not just a crazy recluse who lives up in some place and guards himself from the world he likes gardening more than music these days. If that's what his bag is, you've got to allow him. You can't say, 'You're a musician, you shall not garden.' You've got to let him do what he wants," he says, before getting to a very revealing choice of words: "[He's] a big boy now." Once the youngest Beatle, forever the youngest Beatle.

It was also the mainstream world's introduction to Courtney Love, who sang lead and wrote most of the songs on the album with guitarist Eric Erlandson. And it became one of the most controversial albums of the year due to luckless timing: It was released one week after Kurt Cobain committed suicide.
But as much as the music drew a certain type of person to the band, so did the album's artwork and packaging. That focus on the visual elements was deliberate, and according to Robin Seibert (ne Sloane), the former creative director for Geffen/DGC Records, it was also all thanks to Love. "This is all Courtney's creation," Seibert told Radio.com.
In 1994, most people would have first made contact with Hole through the single "Miss World," thanks to radio play or a music video. And the subsequent decision of whether or not to buy Live Through This would have been made in person, in the aisles of a record store. Many listeners probably took a look at the crying beauty queen on the cover and decided that, yes, they would like to hear more of what's inside. Which was why, especially at the time, creating compelling imagery was vital.
Photography on Live Through This, including the iconic cover art, was primarily handled by Ellen von Unwerth, a former model, fashion photographer and music video director. Her work is so pop culturally pervasive that Complex magazine created a list of her 100 Sexiest Photo Shoots. In the late 1980s and early '90s, von Unwerth shot to fame after mass exposure from her Claudia Schiffer for Guess campaigns. These days she's the photographer of choice for many pop stars, including Christina Aguilera and Rihanna.
In the '90s, the connection people didn't often make was that Courtney Love was emulating the styling of Madonna, in the same way that, today, Beyonc does right and many other pop stars do wrong. All of these women are trying to be multidimensional: a sex goddess who is also the boss; a mother who's also a giant star; an artist who also runs a business.
And for Love to tap a photographer like von Unwerth showed she was including sex as one of the tools in her bag of marketing tricks. It was an inspired choice, because von Unwerth is a photographer and videographer who can paint with all the shades of the female sexuality rainbow, from full nudity to beguiling Victorian. And she likes to tell a story.
Seibert is the former creative director for Geffen/DGC Records who worked with Hole on the packaging of Live Through This, as well as the subsequent visuals attached to the project. Seibert explained to Radio.com that it was her idea to work with von Unwerth, with the aim of creating something different. However, she made clear she was only connecting the already dotted line of interest between the high fashion world and Courtney Love.
"Here's the thing with this band Hole," said Seibert. "It was always Courtney's vision. I don't remember having any conversations with any of the other band members about imaging. Not that they weren't valuable, but this is all Courtney's creation. Everything to do with Hole."
