It turns out, Hurley's preoccupation with the "Plush" and "Interstate Love Song" singer goes deeper than just impersonating him on arrest. Hurley has claimed to be in a Stone Temple Pilots cover band, named Stone Tempered Pilots. Alternative Nation notes that on Hurley's Facebook page, he posted several months ago about a scheduled gig for the tribute act at Hollywood's Roxy Theatre.
Maybe equally as weird, is Hurley's claims to be in with a host of A-list musicians. In a separate post, Hurley refers to Jane's Addiction's Dave Navarro as "my buddy," speaks of being at "Ozzies House with Sharon b--g in the background," (great friends, but he can't spell his name right?), and recalls being "attacked" by Juliette Lewis. He also likes soccer. For fun, check out the full, error-ridden Facebook post (via Alternative Nation)

Slipknot will kick off the Prepare For Hell Tour immediately following back-to-back Knotfest headlining performances at San Manuel Amphitheater & Campgrounds in San Bernardino, Calif. With Korn and Kings 810 serving as openers, the North American tour officially kicks off Oct. 29 in El Paso, Tex., and wraps up Dec. 7 in Boston, Mass.
"We've been waiting a long time for this," Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor said in a press release. "Not only do we get to tour with friends who we respect, we've also chosen a band that represents the fury of the future. Slipknot is coming to your town. And hell's coming with us."

Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page said he was "knocked out" by winning the vote. "I wanted a riff that really moved, that people would really get, and would bring a smile to their faces, but when I played it with the band, it really went into overdrive," he said. "There was this intent to have this riff and the movement of it, so it was menacing as well as quite sort of caressing."
"Whole Lotta Love" was the opening track on Led Zeppelin's 1969 sophomore release, "Led Zepplin II." The single peaked at No. 4 on the US Billboard Hot 100 on its way to selling a million copies Stateside and becoming the group's only US Top 10 single.

The trek will be kicking off this Friday, August 29th in Frankfurt, Germany at the Oder Beachrock Helenesee and will be concluding on September 14th in Aschaffenburg, Germany at the Colos-Saal.
While the band announced this new tour as their final trek in Europe, they left the door slightly open to a return by saying in the announcement that they are taking a hiatus.
We were sent the following statement from Shadows Fall' camp, "The band has been touring non-stop for over a decade and has decided that it's time to 'take a hiatus' from future extensive touring. In addition to this upcoming European run, Shadows Fall are planning a final North American tour and will possibly visit a few other territories some time over the next year.
"We will post details once everything is locked in. There are many factors that are behind this difficult decision that the band has been dealing with for some time now. In a nutshell it comes down to families, member availability, and finances. Further impacting our decision is the fact that we have two members with young children. Plain and simple, they want to be with their families to watch their kids grow.
"Touring full time in a band these days has never been more difficult financially. When you have to ensure the future comfort of your family, difficult decisions have to be made.
"Another reason is the fact that our lead guitarist (Jon Donais) is now in Anthrax, which makes it hard for us to do any extensive touring with our full lineup. Due to his obligations with Anthrax, he will not be able to join us on this European tour.
"Felipe Roa will once again fill Jon's position and we are thankful to him for joining us on this run. Also returning for this tour is original bassist Paul Romanko who has sat out from touring for the last two years to raise his son.
"This has been a real hard decision for all of us to make but we feel at this time this is the right thing to do. We don't hate each other, we're not bitter, we in fact still have a really great time together, but the ride has slowed down and it's time for the next chapters in our lives, whatever that may be.
"We can't thank the fans that have supported Shadows Fall since the beginning enough. Without you, none of this would have been possible. For the past decade and a half, we have been able to create the music we have always wanted to hear and share it with music fans everywhere. That being said, you still may see us at a festival or two over the next few yearsif they ask, we will come! In the meantime please check out the dates for the last European go around and we will see you out there!"

The band say in a statement: "Sadly we had to pull our set as Rob collapsed due to illness around an hour before we were due on stage, which meant he was unable to perform.
"He is in very capable hands and being well looked after. We're massively sorry about being unable to perform in our home town and we'll be back very soon." More

The plans were announced by Anderson at the annual Rushcon in Toronto - and he also used the opportunity to announce a second literature project based on the Canadian icons' work.
Anderson reports: "For those of you not lucky enough to be at Rushcon, I made an announcement about an anthology of Rush-based stories I'll be co-editing with John McFetridge for ECW." More

The tour is scheduled to launch on November 6th in Waterloo, IA at Spicoli's Rock Garden/Reverb and will conclude on November 30th in McCallen, TX at Metropolis.
American Head Charge are scheduled to join the tour on the second stop in Madison, WI at the High Noon Saloon on November 11th and will continue on the remainder of the dates.
Wayne Static had this to say about the upcoming trek, "2014 has been an awesome year! We just finished up the 15th anniversary Wisconsin Death Trip tour. I've got the best band behind me that I've ever had, and I am very excited to round out the year with a co-headline tour with Powerman 5000.
"It's another 15th anniversary tour! It's a testament to both bands that we are both still going strong and the timing is perfect for us to tour together again. I am equally excited to share the stage with American Head Charge again. I believe it was 2005 when we toured together last. This is a great line up and this tour is gonna kill!"

They came together earlier this year, with Guns revealing the band want to focus on a no-nonsense rock sound. Guns had this to say about the project, "It's basic and it's simple.
"We might groove out a little more on some things and we might have a ballad or two, but other than that, we're going to keep it pretty straightforward 1977 rock."

Presented by Johnny's wife, Linda Ramone, and hosted by Rob Zombie, the tribute featured live music, exhibits and a special outdoor screening under the stars of Zombie's classic film, "The Devil's Rejects."

Duffy tells Vanyaland: "I don't think it will be like Born Into This - I think it'll be more guitar heavy. That was a 'guitar light' album for a lot of reasons I won't get into. It seemed a little guitar shy for a Cult album for my ears, but I'm biased."
While the guitarist says he and frontman Ian Astbury have some songs ready, it's still early days. He continues: "We've got completed songs, but there isn't really enough of a cross section of material to figure out what it's going to be like yet.
"I don't see it being a quantum departure - I don't think it's going to be too bonkers. For all I know, Ian wants to make an electro dub dance album."

Goldy and ex-Quiet Riot frontman Mark Huff revealed earlier this year they were putting together a new group and they have now revealed guitarist/keyboard player Findlay as the latest addition.
Goldy says: "I wanted to put the 'holy sh*t' factor back into the hard rock/heavy metal genre by getting virtuosos in their own right together in one band that not only look the part, but are also unusually and vastly talented and who are good human beings - and we can all agree on producing high-quality music together." The benefit concert, organized by the Friends of Jason Becker for the famed guitarist who is battling Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS; Lou Gehrig's Disease), will take place this Saturday, August 30, 2014, at 8 pm at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco.
The show will also feature appearances from Michael Lee Frikins, Spiral Arms and Ben Woods, along with special guests. Proceeds will support the Jason Becker Special Needs Trust.
Becker is best known as one half of the Cacophony guitar duo with former Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman and as the replacement for Steve Vai in David Lee Roth's band. His time in Roth's band was cut short when he was diagnosed with ALS.
Most people have seen the various ALS Ice Bucket Challenge videos across the web over the past few weeks. Becker himself took the challenge this weekend and issued a challenge to Edward Van Halen, David Lee Roth and John Mayer to do the same. Check out the video

The publisher sent over these details: In 1964-1965, Larry Kane was the only American reporter, broadcast or newspaper, to travel with the Fab Four on every stop of their North American tour. In Ticket to Ride, Kane tells the story of what it was like to literally live with the four young men who would leave an indelible mark on contemporary music. Weaving in the voices of the Beatles themselves and covering the electrifying action of the road-the performances, the mischief, and all the players who cropped up along the way during those key years that catapulted the Beatles to major success - Ticket to Ride is unlike any other book on the Beatles.
The story is told from the perspective of a seasoned journalist, who at the time of the tour was just coming into his own in a nation that was bracing for the Vietnam War, the civil rights movement, and a radical shift in rock-and-roll music. Twenty-one and eager to cover "big news," Kane unknowingly was in the process of covering one of the biggest music events in history. Ticket to Ride is an inside account of these exciting years during the career of the band that redefined rock and roll.
The paperback reissue will include a foreword by Dick Clark, a CD of bonus interview material, rare photographs, and an appendix detailing tour schedules.
The song pays tribute to some of Alien Ant Farm's musical heroes, such as Pixies, The Rolling Stones and Michael Jackson. Frontman Dryden Mitchell says:
"Homage is plain and simply just what the title says - a homage to various artists that have influenced us or at least provided the background to some good times in our lives." More
here.
Due at the end of October, the title includes restored artwork approved by Roger Dean, new sleeve notes by Prog writer Sid Smith and bonus material to be announced in the coming weeks.
Yes' seventh studio outing was the only one to feature keyboardist Patrick Moraz after the departure of Rick Wakeman. Side one consisted of a single track, The Gates Of Delirium, while side two containes Sound Chase and To Be Over.

The unusual video features four distinct clips edited together, each focused one of the band members. Beginning with black and white concert footage shot while on tour in Europe, Fred Durst is seen singing from the crowd sandwiched by security guards and fans.
The second clip features bassist Sam Rivers hiking up to bridge, looking longingly over the river below. Clip three follows a kilt-wearing Wes Borland covered in black makeup, running through narrow cobblestone streets and scaling a wall like a super-villain. The fourth and final clip features Johnny Otto doing what he does best; drumming.

"I'm The Man: The Official Story Of Anthrax", the fast-paced, humorous and revealing memoir from the Anthrax leader sees Ian telling his life story, starting with his upbringing as a nerdy Jewish boy in Queens, New York, and evolving through his first musical epiphany when he saw The Who on television and decided he wanted to play guitar. Not long after, Ian saw KISS at Madison Square Garden and realized what he wanted to do with his life.

Zach Blair tells Music Radar: "My brother and I played in a band called Only Crime and Bill played drums for that, so everything revolves around him."
"Bill's the conscience. You need somebody that cares about the band and feels like a member of it and he absolutely is. I don't know where we'd be without him."
Frontman Tim McIlrath is also quick to praise the duo, who he credits with getting the most out of the band. Read what he said

"I accept Joe Satriani's challenge, but I'm gonna write a big, fat check," said Hagar, "and being a California person, I'm gonna conserve water and jump in this ice cold lake. Eddie and Alex Van Halen, I challenge you to do the same."
Hagar recently completed a summer tour and is now gearing up for his annual October birthday bash concerts at the Cabo Wabo Cantina in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

As Stereogum points out, the Fleetwood Mac singer's latest is actually an updated version of an old Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham demo called "Knockin' On Doors." On the introspective track, she sings about getting older and what her fate may be: "I know that things gotta change/But how to change them, isn't clear."
24 Karat Gold - Songs from the Vault will be out Oct. 27. But Nicks has a surprise in store for vinyl fans, who will be able to grab a copy of a limited-edition double LP on Sept. 29.
"Each song is a lifetime. Each song has a soul. Each song has a purpose. Each song is a love story," Nicks said in a statement. "They represent my life behind the scenes, the secrets, the broken hearts, the broken hearted and the survivors. These songs are the memories - the 24 karat gold rings in the blue box. These songs are for you."

Predictably, many found this offensive and blasted the punk-rock legend across social media and websites. Rollins took to his official website over the weekend to issue an apology, and said, "I wrote something for the L.A. Weekly that they will post on Monday."
On Monday, his latest column was published, titled "More Thoughts on Suicide.": "As you might imagine, I got a few letters about my recent column about suicide," he wrote. "Actually, it was a lot of letters. For days. I read them. No matter how angry or instructive, I appreciate them all because they were written with complete sincerity."
Rollins noted that he read and responded to much of the criticism. "It was obvious that I had some work to do in order to educate myself further on this very complex and painful issue. I am quite thick-headed, but not so much that things don't occasionally permeate." He added, "I am always eager to learn something. I promise that I will dig in and educate myself on this and do my best to evolve. Again, thank you."
"I cannot defend the views I expressed," he continued. "I think that would be taking an easy out. I put them out there plainly and must suffer the slings and arrows-fair enough. I won't attempt to dodge them."
In his post, he admitted that he also suffers from depression. Read more

Due September 23, "Strut" is Lenny's tenth studio album and first since 2011's "Black And White America." "This record brought me back to a place of what I love so much about music, back to the feelings I had when I was in high school," says Kravitz.
"It's a real rock & roll record - it's raw, it's got soul and it came together really quickly." Kravitz is also scheduled to launch a world tour in support of "Strut" on October 22 in Moscow.

Modern Vintage is released on October 7. You can watch DJ Ashba's "Stars" guitar lesson

They have also previously recorded a cover of The Beatles' Here Comes The Sun. And the Ghoul says the band are unlikely to ever cover a heavy metal track because it would be too obvious.
The Ghoul tells Alternative Nation: "Covering an artist that sounds similar to your own band doesn't make any sense. That's already out there, so why not take another song and paint it with your own colours?
"We listen to all kinds of music. I don't think we will ever do a heavy metal cover. We love those songs and some of the bands as well. ABBA and The Beatles are probably our biggest influences."
