Her official website provided these details: "It is with deep regret, but also deep gratitude, that we announce the following about our beloved Merry Clayton. At approximately 3:30 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2014, Merry was involved in a major automobile accident in Los Angeles, California.

Clapton was half-way through a performance of his classic song "Cocaine" when left the stage without an explanation. He then returned to close out the show with a performance of "High Time We Went", leaving some fans puzzled about what had gone wrong.
His official website posted the following explanation on Sunday: "Unfortunately last night in Glasgow we experienced a steadily worsening technical problem with the PA system that the band battled with throughout the show but by the last song of the set it became unbearable on stage and Eric was unable to complete that number. During the encore break we were able to reset and the band finished as planned with the last number.
"The usual touring set length runs at 1hr 35 mins so in fact the full set was performed apart from the entirety of 'cocaine' which had to be curtailed. Eric is nevertheless sorry for the break in the concert and the disappointment of his fans."
Portnoy had a strong reaction to the criticism on his Facebook page. He wrote fans, "The Tweet Secret app is something fun that I was asked to be a part of (along w several other musicians, athletes, etc). I don't control the fact that there is a monthly subscription fee, but really, it's only $2.99 a month. Is that really worth complaining about?? That's less than a cup of coffee at Starbucks!
"I figured you'd enjoy getting an inside, behind the scenes look into my day-to-day life. If this does NOT interest you, then fine, just ignore the posts that automatically go here when a new clip is posted and move on with your day.
"However, the nasty comments that seem to be popping up here calling me a 'sellout' or personally attacking me because of this app (which is not mine, mind you!) will not be tolerated and you will be banned from this page. There's no need to be mean and nasty around here."

The tour will be kicking off on November 12th in Oakland, Ca at Fox Theatre and will hit various markets across the U.S. before wrapping up on November 5th at The Fillmore in Detroit, MI.
Slayer's Tom Araya had this to say about the tour, "We are way f***ing excited about hitting the road again with Suicidal and Exodus. F***ing intense. See you in the fall."
Suicidal Tendencies' frontman Mike Muir had the following comments, "Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies and Exodus, for only six shows? They were a blast, but everyone knew that wouldn't be enough. Now's your chance to see what everyone else was screaming about. ST definitely can't wait 'til November to do it all again!"
Exodus vocalist Steve 'Zetro' Souza adds, "This monumental tour is a heavy metal collision of epic proportions. For my first tour back with Exodus, I'm beyond excited to be on the road with my brothers in true thrash metal! I'm also looking forward to meeting and hanging out with all of the fans on this heavy as hell tour."

He'd previously discussed Spectrum Electrum, recorded with his backing band 3rdEyeGirl - but the second project is a purely Prince work. Few details are available, although the Star Tribune reports titles include The Gold Standard (described as "classic Prince"), This Could Be Us (inspired by Purple Rain) and a remix of 3rdEyeGirl track Funk'n'Roll.
Prince took the opportunity to complain about the pace of current large-scale releases, saying: "Every number-one song, every top-ten song, every song in the top 40 is at least six months old. We should be able to make music and put it out now."

"Rainbow," the album's first single, is out today and currently streaming via the former Led Zeppelin frontman's YouTube page. Compared to some of Zeppelin's more rocking material, "Rainbow" is subdued in comparison, though it's still unmistakably a Plant record. Alongside guitar and driving percussion, Plant sings about "singing my song for you / and I will carry on" as a chorus of "ooh"s rise in the background.
"Rainbow" precedes the release of lullaby by a few months; the record, out on Nonesuch/Warner Bros., will be out Sept. 9 and features 11 new songs; all but two were written by Plant and his band.
"It's really a celebratory record, powerful, gritty, African, Trance meets Zep," Plant said in a statement. "The whole impetus of my life as a singer has to be driven by a good brotherhood. I am very lucky to work with The Sensational Space Shifters. They come from exciting areas of contemporary music I have been around awhile and I ask myself, do I have anything to say? Is there a song still inside me? In my heart? I see life and what's happening to me. Along the trail there are expectations, disappointments, happiness, questions and strong relationships and now I'm able to express my feelings through melody, power and trance; together in a kaleidescope of sound, colour, and friendship."

"We have had a new super guitarist in play for a while now, as I hinted some time ago, so, you can relax," Coverdale said overnight. "Unfortunately, because of contractual commitments on his side, we cannot reveal his name, rank and serial number just yet."
"Of course, you will be the first to know when we can draw back the Snakey curtains to show him in all his musical finery," he continued. "He is not a former member of Whitesnake. It is a new one with as many bells and whistles as we could could possibly need."
So who could it possibly be? Are there any hints in Coverdale's statement, beyond the confirmation that the new guitarist is not a returning former member (thus ruling out fan speculation that Bernie Marsden or Adrian Vandenberg were returning)?

Ulrich tells Metal Hammer: "It's fun to play and it seems like the kids are enjoying it. There was actually somebody in the Snake Pit the other day with a homemade Lords Of Summer t-shirt on, which was very endearing. That was cool."
He adds that the song was written about the band's current tour, but admits it may not remain in its existing form by the time a new Metallica album comes around.

Phillips, who formed Genesis at Charterhouse school alongside Gabriel, Rutherford and Banks, has taken part in the show - but doesn't appear as a definitive band member. He tells the Telegraph: "I suppose it becomes a bit complicated to mention the different line-ups, so I think they just go for where the band was most static.
"Calling them the original lineup is just convenient parlance, isn't it? I've kind of got used to it. Occasionally one feels a little bit of a sort of footnote in history, almost airbrushed out. At other times I almost feel embarrassed about the interest shown to a time where, to be honest, some of the music was a bit rough.
"But if you're talking about the original line-up, it was the four guys at Charterhouse."

Strut is produced and arranged by Kravitz, who also plays guitar, bass, keyboards and drums and percussion on the album. For an extra ear, he invited Bob Clearmountain (David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen) to mix it.
In a statement issued by his publicist, Kravitz said of Strut, "This record brought me back to a place of what I love so much about music, back to the feelings I had when I was in high school. It's a real rock & roll record - it's raw, it's got soul and it came together really quickly."

Nugent's first all-new studio effort in seven years sees him team up with his touring bandmates - bassist Greg Smith, drummer Mick Brown and longtime guitarist/vocalist Derek St. Holmes - for the project.
Nugent will kick off a US tour on July 3 in Wichita Falls, Texas. It will be the rocker's first trek since undergoing double knee replacement surgery in February.
"Though we can all agree that music is the ultimate communication, killer rock-n-roll is also the ultimate soul cleansing distraction from everyday life," says Nugent. "I predict the most fun tour of our lives. Politics be damned! Shutup & Jam!"

The music for Hummingbird In A Box debuted live in April last year at Cincinnati's Aronoff Center for the Arts. Two of the segments were choreographed to existing Frampton songs, while the third was based around the seven new compositions. Frampton and his band was on hand to perform the music live.
"Writing for dance was a wonderfully freeing experience. There were no boundaries. We were able to push the composing envelope," Frampton said about the project, with Kennedy adding "Songwriters and musicians create music to move people. This was beautiful, graceful, and instantly gratifying!"

Dickinson tells the Guardian: "We still don't have an autocue - yay! I never realised people were using autocues. What the f*** is that all about? People pay good money and you can't even remember the sodding words.
"The daftest one I ever saw was Breaking The Law on the f***ing autocue - 'Breaking the law, breaking the law, breaking the law, breaking the law, breaking the law, breaking the law - guess what? - breaking the law.' It's ridiculous."

"This is the first time we've ever gone on the road without new music [to promote], and I'm kind of embarrassed about that, to be honest," said guitarist Nuno Bettencourt.
"You know, it's doing that [we were performing] the [entire 1990] 'Pornograffitti' album [on some of the record tour dates], so it gives you a bit of an excuse to not have [a new] album [to tour behind]. But we're definitely working on stuff, and by the end of the year, we should have a new album in. It won't be a little one [EP]; it'll be a regular size."

Official book description: "The quintessential self-made man, master of brand identity, New York Times bestselling author, and award-winning executive - KISS' Gene Simmons -shares his manifesto for business success.
"KISS did not become one of the most successful rock bands in history by accident. Long before they first took the stage, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley had a clear-cut operating plan for their business. Over the past forty years, KISS has sold over 100 million CDs and DVDs worldwide and manages over 3,000 licensed merchandise items. In addition to KISS, Simmons' lucrative ventures include two hit reality shows, a professional sports team, a restaurant chain, and a record company. A recipient of the Forbes lifetime achievement award, this brilliant executive runs all of his businesses on his own - no personal assistant, few handlers, and as little red tape as possible.

The honor, which celebrates the music and icons that have made an impact on the legacy of The Strip, sees the band join a distinguished list of former honorees, including Ozzy Osbourne (2009), Slash (2010), Motley Crue (2011), The Doors (2012) and Joan Jett (2013).
"It all started for me back when my big brother used to tell me about The Strip, and about the amazing scene where artists like Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison blew people's minds by pioneering a new sound and influencing culture in a more exciting way than ever before. Complete with massive crowds from all over the world streaming through the streets and flocking to The Strip just trying to be part of it all," says frontman Perry Farrell.
"So when it came time for Jane's to record our first album we told Warner Brothers that before we could even release a studio record we had to make a live record on The Strip, and we even recorded it at The Roxy, because we knew that it had to embody that inspiration that came from the heart of that scene. We are very proud to come from this heritage and are truly honored by the Valentine Award."
