Live From Bonnaroo 2004 DVD
03-29-05
.
(press release) The Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival and Sanctuary Records/Sanctuary Visual Entertainment are proud to announce the release of the Live From Bonnaroo 2004 double DVD set, due out May 17th.  As a run-up to the DVD set’s release, the companion live double CD, titled Bonnaroo Music Festival 2004, will hit stores on April 5th.  Produced by Lindha Narvaez, Danny Clinch and Gillian Grisman, the DVD set breaks from the traditional Bonnaroo movie format and takes the form of a special four-part series, with two episodes on each DVD.  The episodes are an hour long and following identical introductions they each feature different live performances from the 30 artists chosen, representing the very best from the musically diverse lineup for which the landmark three-day music and arts festival has become known.  The Dead, Dave Matthews & Friends, Trey Anastasio, Primus, Steve Winwood and Ween are just a few of the live performances featured during the episodes.  The DVD package includes a bonus disc with performance schedules, artist info pages, the “We Have Arrived” feature film trailer, press tent artist interviews and HeadCount Commercials, as well as a booklet with photos by C. Taylor Crothers.

The companion CD, Live From Bonnaroo 2004, is collection of 22 tracks showcasing the musical highlights from the three days of concerts.  With executive producers (and promoters) Superfly Productions and AC Entertainment, as well as producers Hank Neuberger, John Alagia and Terry Fryer sifting through almost 100 hours of music, the track listing provides only a small glimpse of the breadth and eclectic nature of the festival.  Tracks from such diverse artists as Bob Dylan, The Dead, Dave Matthews & Friends, Trey Anastasio, David Byrne, Ween, Steve Winwood, Ani DiFranco, The Bad Plus and many more exemplify the fundamental premise upon which Bonnaroo was founded; a festival that brings together premier live performances from across traditional genre boundaries.

As with past years, the 2004 event received widespread critical acclaim. The New York Times said, “Bonnaroo, in just its third year, has already revolutionized the modern rock festival.” Rolling Stone magazine said Bonnaroo was “One of the 50 Moments to change the history of rock and roll,” and Spin magazine called the event the “best festival of the summer,” while USA Today hailed it as “the concert event of the season.”

The CD’s release, along with an accompanying DVD, are sure to build up the excitement already palpable as the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival readies itself for the much-anticipated 2005 event to take place in Manchester, TN, June 10 – 12.
