Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band Week: @$$ (Badonkadonk) and Neat Little Package
. @$$ (Badonkadonk): Have you ever watched a woman of larger stature walk down the street? The rhythm, the graceful side to side motion. BaBoom, Babump, BaDonk, aDonk, BaDonk, aDonk... Now let's translate that into A minor and throw in some 808 bass drops. Musicians pull inspiration from many different muses, and booty is most definitely one of them. Let's not beat around the bush here: This song is all about the butt. We have been performing "@$$ (Badonkadonk)" live for a few years now. It's a real crowd-pleaser and highly interactive but it also felt great to get it down in the studio. This track was recorded straight to tape for that classic warm thump. Neat Little Package: Our sax player, Greg Hollowell, had wanted a bari sax since he was in high school. Twenty-something years later, he got one! "Neat Little Package" is a result of the jam session in which we collectively figured out what to do with Greg's shiny new toy. We employ several different methods of songwriting here in the Booty Band, and this method is definitely one of them. Each of us composed his/her part for this tune and we arranged the parts together. The song ends the same way it starts, wrapping the whole experience into a "Neat, Little Package." This instrumental was recorded to 8 track, 1/2" tape for that sweet, sweet dirty crunch, then converted to ones and zeroes in post-production for further tweaking. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!
