Lily Allen Proud of Groundbreaking Sheezus

(Radio.com) Lily Allen hasn't released new music in four years and she's under a lot of pressure to succeed. In a candid interview with Rolling Stone, the singer opened up about the struggles of pleasing her label, the desire to get out of her deal and why her choice for her first single, "Sheezus," didn't make the cut.

"I wanted the album to be called Sheezus before I had a song with that title," she told Rolling Stone. "The word inspired the song, and 'divas' rhymes with 'Sheezus.' I was really working backwards. Then I had to figure out a message. It starts off with me being quite scared about coming back. I'm really a sensitive person, and I take that on."

She added: "I would have liked to see 'Sheezus' as a single, but it's not up-tempo enough. It's also got the word 'period' in it, which is really offensive to people, even though half the world has to deal with it once a month. It's groundbreaking! I'm proud of that. It's f***ing awesome." More on the period here.
