(Radio.com) The flux capacitor on the Back to the Future musical has just begun to whir. This time around, England gets to rev up that Delorean and gun it to 88 miles (or 141 kilometers) per hour. Back to the Future returns with a musical stage production of the beloved Robert Zemeckis movie set for 2015 on London's West End.

Next year marks the 30th anniversary of the first entry of the Back to the Future trilogy, which spawned a franchise that helped define '80s sci-fi.

As first reported by the Associated Press, Zemeckis, Back to the Future co-writer Bob Gale and acclaimed British theater director Jamie Lloyd will produce the project, with Lloyd directing the production. Music and lyrics will be handled by composer Alan Silvestri and songwriter/producer Glen Ballard. Ballard has written for Alanis Morrissette, Michael Jackson, Katy Perry, and more.

"The production will include illusions, skateboarding and many other surprises that will capture the spirit of the film but freshly interpret it for a new audience," Lloyd said in a statement Friday. more on this story
