(Radio.com) Reports from The Guardian confirm that members of the punk collective Pussy Riot were attacked by the Cossack militia on Wednesday in Sochi, Russia.

The group, which included the recently jailed and "non-members" Nadezhda Tolokonnikova Maria Alyoshina, had gathered in a downtown Sochi restaurant about 21 miles (30km) from the main site of the Winter Olympics. They came out of the restaurant wearing their pastel balaclavas and were then confronted by the Cossacks, who are used by police authorities to patrol the streets.

The Guardian reports that that the group tried to start performing, but a Cossack smashed their guitar. Another member of Pussy Riot, a man, had blood on his face after he claimed he was pushed to the ground. more on this story
