(Radio.com) Its been less than a year since Janelle Monae released her standout album, The Electric Lady, and now she's back with new music. The singer just dropped "What Is Love," which will also be featured on the Rio 2 soundtrack.

"What good is love, if it's not your love," she sings above a pop-Island beat. This follows in Pharrell's footsteps, placing a deliriously positive song in the soundtrack of an animated movie. Will this spell the same kind of success as it did for "Happy"? From the sounds of it, most definitely.

In other Mone news, the singer recently covered Robert Palmer's 1988 hit "Simply Irresistible." She puts her unique spin on the track, which was originally recorded for E!'s "Live from the Red Carpet" on Sunday's Academy Awards. Watch as she sings it below.

Late last year, Mone was named Billboard's Woman In Music's Rising Star where she opened up about her album and her continued career in music. "My journey is continuing," she told Billboard. "We're not stopping or sitting back and reflecting or saying, 'Hey, I've made it, I've arrived.' I've acknowledged it, and am acknowledging now, how encouraging it is to be recognized. This year, releasing The Electric Lady - which is deeply rooted in community and the female protagonist story of our community-has been such a great joy to be able to tell stories about these women-these unconventional, universal stories that don't get talked about or discussed all the time."
