Spider-Man Star Dresses In Drag For Arcade Fire's 'We Exist'

(Radio.com) Arcade Fire's video for their latest Reflektor single, "We Exist" is dedicated to those still looking to find their true self - even if the world doesn't want them to. Andrew Garfield's involved to help push along that notion - by dressing in drag.

The clip starts with a shot of Spider-Man star Garfield watching himself as he shaves his head and tries on a bra, eventually ending with him in tears. Last month, Arcade Fire announced "We Exist" as their next single, which, according to frontman Win Butler is about "a gay kid talking to his dad" about equality. For the video, part of which was shot at Coachella, Garfield acts as this kid, who is trying to be himself in a world that won't let him.

After finding the right outfit, he ends up in a local bar where he's met with stares and gets hit on by a bunch of drunk men, who end up roughing him up on the dancefloor.

It's a scene that would be much harder to watch if it didn't end in a shadowy interpretive dance number where he finds his own set of burly dancers to help him crossover into a better place.
