(Radio.com) The homeless date Miley Cyrus took to the MTV VMAs turned himself in to an Oregon jail Thursday and has since posted bail. Jesse Helt was booked Thursday evening (Aug. 29) but posted $2,500 bail and was released shortly before 9 p.m., The Oregonian reports.

He turned himself in after news surfaced that Helt, an aspiring model, had an arrest warrant in his home state following a probation violation, reportedly for "failing to take a drug test, failing to report to his probation officer, breaching his curfew, not finishing his community service hours and more," according to court documents. He was previously arrested in Salem, Ore., on charges of criminal trespassing and criminal mischief, plus an additional burglary charge in 2010.

Cyrus brought him to the VMAs to raise awareness of homeless youth in America. The 22-year-old accepted her award for video of the year for "Wrecking Ball," accepting the honor on "behalf of 1.6 million runaways and homeless youth who are starving lost and scared right now. I know this because I am one of these people."
