Any movie critic can tell you what a newly released DVD is about & spoil the ending for you. I plan to ruin your entire DVD watching experience by highlighting it's flaws, it's missteps, it's examples of poor editing, casting, and point out the ridiculous holes in the plot. This movie was shocking in that it stars David Spade, someone who used to be funny on SNL, then decided he could make movies. His earlier flops made me wonder why I ever thought he was funny in the first place, but this movie sets him back on the throne. This movie is amazingly amusing. I mean it's ridiculously far fetched, but it has some really good cameos by many washed up where are they now child stars of yesterday. 

The funniest collaborative effort is in the behind the scenes music video expressing their true feelings about being dismissed by heartless cretins as myself.
 
The funny premise is that Dickie longs for the days when his rollercoaster thrill ride®  life consisted of making big famous TV shows & he had the adulation of millions. In his quest to regain that lost status, he relentlessly chases after Rob Reiner, the guy casting the movie that could put him back on top. But Rob's surreal request puts Dickie once again in need of outside intervention and help, this time in the form of a family life to teach him what it's like to be normal. This provides for some classic moments of hilarity, and in spite of how precarious a movie foundation all this is stacked upon, it doesn't come across as contrived or clichéd, the bane of many movies of I hate.
 
There are so many sight gags in this, so many insider winks that come across as truly brilliant and funny. There are high profile as well as lower cameos, wanna see how your fave child star turned out now that he's off drugs & all grown up? Watch this movie. You'll end up liking it for many other reasons.
 
Buy this movie used, it's at least worth that!
