Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers - Unida Cantina

Clyne and his mates have for years been one of the southwest's favorite party bands, always packing in the crowds at live performances in Arizona and occasionally taking their musical fiesta south of the border for a big blow-out in Mexico. Consistent with that reputation much of Clyne's past recorded work has been on the raucous side, and while he's unlikely to ever abandon the popular party vibe, longtime fans will notice a subtle difference in the music on Unida Cantina. There's been a significant maturation in songwriting and the emphasis now is on the possibility of garnering serious airplay with the chance of having hit singles. And the odds are good; the catchy "Heaven on a Paper Plate" is a radio-ready sing-along and the little-bit-John Mellencamp "Dinero" is also hook-filled and ready for the airwaves. The Old Mexico-flavored "Marie" and the brief acoustic guitar instrumental "Unida Cantina" add regional flare while "Today Belongs to the Light" with its reggae beat will no doubt quickly become a fan favorite. Unida Cantina opens with "All Over the Radio," a song that is not the album's strongest, but it just might turn out to be the most prophetic.Check them out here
