Here's a cool fanzine for fans of Celtic Frost and other extreme metal bands presented in paperback form and named after the Swiss band's debut album. Book editor Rudolph is a Detroit-based illustrator whose work has been utilized by Marvel Entertainment, Metal Hammer Magazine, Relapse Records and underground comics galore and here his illustrations for the segment entitled "Way of The Warrior" tell the story of Celtic Frost's Tom G. Warrior (Thomas Gabriel Fischer, currently with Triptykon) from his days as a little boy to full-blown metal star. Others honoring Tom G. and Celtic Frost with illustrations include Lars Krantz, Ed Luce, Tim Shagrat, Sam Wolf and many others, and Rudolph also draws a second piece called "Necronomitom." Brief testimonials from metal stars describing what Celtic Frost and associated bands like Hellhammer meant to them are inserted throughout the book; among those contributing reverential blurbs are Scott Kelly of Neurosis, John Paradiso of Evoken, Trevor Peres of Obituary, Chris Reifert of Autopsy and Ben Ash of Carcass. Each tribute is also illustrated. Fans of extreme metal in general will be entertained by Morbid Tales! and Celtic Frost fans in particular will find it to be a keeper.
