Motorhead - Clean Your Clock

There's not much left to be said about Motorhead. The band's speedy, balls-to-the-wall rock has long been instantly recognizable and the unbelievably hard-partying ways of front man Lemmy Kilmister have been infinitely dissected. Kilmister rumbled off to the rock 'n' roll afterlife in December of 2015, forever closing the door on Motorhead as a working unit. Motorhead was around for so long that there is no doubt tons of archival material waiting to be dredged up and released over the next decade or so, but Clean Your Clock does not fit into that category. Recorded live at two shows in Munich, Germany a mere five weeks before Kilmister's not-so-unanticipated departure (and at the last Motorhead shows to ever be recorded) Clean Your Clock is about as close to a farewell gift from the band as you can get. Since the set list comes from two different shows it is hard to tell how much the concert length has been edited, but likely it has been since the set contains only one song ("When the Sky Comes Looking for You") from the at-the-time current Motorhead release Bad Magic. The end result is a show featuring Motorhead favorites like golden oldie "Bomber," the likewise 35-year-old "Stay Clean," "Metropolis" and "No Class," and the powerful set closing triple-punch of "Ace of Spades," the thumping Motorhead-goes-acoustic of "Whorehouse Blues" and the song with a title that best describes the band's entire oeuvre, "Overkill." Lemmy introduces the band before playing "Overkill," quipping that he's doing so "In case it's your first time." Likely for most in the crowd it was not their first time. For sure though it was their last.

The album will be released on June 24th and can be preordered here.
