Bad Religion - New America
Review by antiGUY

Bad Religion - New America

  • Atlantic

  • Bad Religion returns with a bit more melodic infused post punk sound. No these guys didn't sell out, it's still Bad Religion. They just expanded their sound a tiny little bit from their last release, "No Substance". If you liked "Shades of Truth" and "All Fantastic Images" from the last album, you will feel right at home with New America.

The song "A Long Way to the Promised Land" is a sure crossover hit as well as "New America", "Let it Burn", and "A World Without Melody". The overall sound is classic Bad Religion with a bit of the popish sound of latter day Redd Kross thrown in the mix.  13 solid tracks make up "New America", there is not a clunker in the bunch. So forget those pretenders Blink-182 and get the real deal!

Alright, Yes punk rock, and basically every subculture ends up being a huge contradiction. Non-conformity that becomes conformity. But that is how it is with EVERYTHING. Punk has changed completely over the years but that doesnt mean groups such as the ones mentioned are "full of themselves." (o and you misspelled elitist dum$hit) both of the other posts are being way too general so get a life. Jesus, dre_dog, you have a 17 yr old son and u have nothing better to do than mock his stlye? for shame numbnuts for shame. and Killthepunks, let me guess, you like Simple Plan? Good Charelotte? or any of the pop-punk bands who played on the sudden populatrity of punk rock? well there ya have it. you are a hipocrite, congrats! you were probobly made fun of for likeing a fake genre. Pop-punk is an oxymoron. Kinda like how both of u are morons. Well now that i have completely degraded both of you goodbye and i hope your balls grow back.

i agree with kill the punks in that punk rock and goth and any other cliche and kitchy suburban movements are ridiculous. it's mass mentality, meant to reduce imagination and subjugate free will. it's ironic that even the "punks" who sopposedly defy parents, like my poor 17yr old does, go out and buy spiky belts or whatever the latest accesory is. The truth is that suburban middle class kids have nothing to bitch about, maybe except for their mediocrity (i'm speaking in broad terms here). I'm not saying that urban music and independent sonic exploration are hand in hand, but whenever I see "a goth" or "a punk" walking down the street i immediately think stupid.

i think that punk music sucks. i used to like it not long ago, till this shyte about "selling out" emerged out of nowhere. i think "punk" bands such as the likes of nofx, pennywise, bad religion are so full of themselves. they think just cause they sing about politics and anarchist crap theyre all the sudden cool, when in reality their riffs are so mediocre and lack originality. theyre more pathetic than the so called sell outs theyre constantly complaining about. Come on guys, youre not famous cause you just plain suck. simple as that ok. plus your band base includes wannabe anarchists illitists, that are nothing but suburban white kids with sucky ibanez guitars and cheap drum beats.
