Head Tributes Dimebag
Rockdirt reports: A video of former Korn guitarist Brian 'Head' Welch performing a tribute song to the late Pantera and Damageplan guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, entitled 'Letter to Dimebag', has been posted online at the Valley Bible Fellowship web site. As I Lay Dying Video Shoot
Metal Blade reports: Metal Blade Recording artists As I Lay Dying recently shot their first video from the forthcoming Shadows are Security CD (June 14) for the track titled "Confined." This grueling video shoot was documented in the late hours of 4:00 pm until 4:00 am at the abandoned Tustin Air Base in Tustin, CA. Bobby Purify Returns
conqueroo reports: Bobby Purify, whose rich, melodious voice enhanced hits by the duo James & Bobby Purify, has come out of retirement with the help of producer and songwriter Dan Penn and several legendary players of the American Soul era. The resulting album, titled Better to Have It, is due to hit the streets July 19 on Proper American Recordings, distributed by Ryko Distribution. 

In recording the album, Purify surrounded himself with an R&B brain trust. Penn produced the album, and co-wrote 12 new songs specifically for it with Carson Whitsett and Hoy "Bucky" Lindsey. The album also features one new Purify original, "What's Old To You." Key members of the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section (Spooner Oldham, keyboards; David Hood, bass; Jimmie Johnson, guitar) and others, such as Carson Whitsett of Malaco fame, keyboards; along with Reggie Young of Memphis, lead guitar; and Wayne Jackson of the Memphis Horns; came together at Dandy Studio in Nashville on a 16-track analog tape recorder. Legendary producer Jerry Wexler provided sleeve notes. If ever there existed a fertile environment to make a great soul record, this was it. - Click Here for the Full Story

PM5K Expand Tour
ABC PR reports: Powerman 5000 are continuing on a U.S. tour aimed at getting fans ready for a new as-yet-untitled album, which is currently in the finishing stages and will be released later this year on Spider One's Megatronic Records. Joining the line-up (including Spider One along with Adrian Ost, drums and Siggy Siursen, bass) on tour and on the forthcoming album are guitarists Terry Corso (formerly with Alien Ant Farm) and Johnny Rock (formerly with Half-Cocked, the first band Spider One signed to Megatronic when it was being distributed with DreamWorks Records), replacing founding member Adam 12 who left the band before the tour started (but will appear on the new album) and Mike "M.33" Tempesta who left in 2004. More details about the album will be revealed in the coming weeks. Here are the current tour dates:

Get Amped
i.e. marketing reports: On May 29, 2004, AMPED performed live on the side stage at the Molson Amphitheatre for the sold-out Blink 182 concert. As usual, the audience reaction to AMPED was overwhelming, with thousands of new fans jumping on the AMPED bandwagon. AMPED was selected as one of Canada's most promising unsigned bands to participate in the Budweiser True Music Program and as one of the featured bands, they continued to receive a myriad of press and publicity across all forms of media. 

AMPED is looking to take their career to the next level. Just prior to Canada's biggest music festival, 500,000 viewers were introduced to AMPED when the CTV National News featured them as one of Canada's hottest independent bands. Consequently, their showcase performance at Sneaky Dees was a huge success and received rave reviews. Chart Attack's CMW Report Card rated AMPED as one of the top 11 acts, scoring a 91 out of 100. In fact, after seeing their show, Greg Simpson of Mindbenders Music stated, "their showcase at Sneaky Dees during Canada Music Week was the best audience reaction I've ever seen at one of these gigs." Kelly Osbourne Back in Rehab
antiMusic reports: Kelly Osbourne will be locked away in rehab when her new CD hits stores on Tuesday. Us Weekly reported on Friday that Ozzy's 20-year-old daughter entered a drug treatment center in Pasadena on Thursday. 

"Kelly is in a facility dealing with some personal issues. She'll be back in a few weeks," a representative of the Osbournes told Us Magazine.

Jacko Verdict To Be Broadcast
antiMusic reports: Michael Jackson's fate in now in the hands of the jury who will resume deliberations on Monday. The media won a victory on Friday when CNN reported that Santa Barbara County Superior Court Judge Rodney Melville will allow an audio broadcast of the reading of the verdict.
