Saves the Day working on new CD
punkbands reports: Saves The Day recently entered the studio to begin work on their sixth full-length album, entitled Under the Boards, due this fall on Vagrant. The band is co-producing the 13 songs with Marc Hudson and Eric Stenman at their studio in northern California. "Marc has been mixing us live for six years. He knows what we sound like better than anyone so it's really exciting to finally work with him in the studio," says guitarist David Soloway.

Under The Boards continues a story about self-discovery that began with last year's Sound The Alarm and will conclude with a third album, Daybreak, to be released next year. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

The Last Goodnight Supporting Rocco DeLuca
PR reports: On July 6th, The Last Goodnight will embark on a two-month U.S. tour with Rocco DeLuca & The Burden. The trek comes in advance of the band's major label debut, Poison Kiss, which will be released by Capitol Music Group on August 28th. The Last Goodnight has been named a Clear Channel NEW! "Artist to Watch" for June and the album's first single, "Pictures of You," is available now at iTunes and other digital retailers.

At once piano-driven and guitar heavy, rhythmic yet lush and soulful, Poison Kiss is filled with cinematic, singular songs that reference a host of disparate influences Ella Fitzgerald, ELO, Richard Ashcroft, Sly Stone, Supertramp, Massive Attack yet reflect a thoroughly modern sensibility. From the strident title track, where the sounds of crackling vinyl mesh with a melancholy but buoyant, layered vibe to the poignant, vivid vignettes of "Pictures of You," Poison Kiss details an emotional journey that is highly personal and yet universal.

7/3 Orlando, FL Crane's Roost Lake Park (Red Hot & Boom)
7/6 Los Angeles, CA Henry Fonda Theatre
7/8 San Diego, CA House of Blues

Coyote Bones Make Video for $18
PR reports: Trying to spot the members of Coyote Bones amongst the hullabaloo that is going on in the band's video for "Living Breathing Demons" (see full story for the video) is like trying to find Waldo. The clip stars Dev Hynes of Test Icicles, Craig D and Kianna Alarid of Tilly and The Wall, and Joe Knapp of Son Ambulance dancing around and generally acting like fools alongside other friends of the Coyote Bones-run CoCo Art collective.

Of course, the video also features Coyote Bones members David Matysiak, Greg Edds, Dan Krueger, and Chris Rivera. The clip, created by frequent Saddle Creek collaborator Nik Fackler, was made on a budget of $18 which went towards spray paint for the video's graffiti extravaganza (courtesy of Bright Eyes visual collaborator Joey Lynch), and a box of wine to loosen up the cast. The track "Living Breathing Demos" is culled from Coyotes Bones' debut album Gentleman On The Rocks which features contributions from members of The Anniversary, Tilly and The Wall, Neva Dinova, Jet By Day, Art In Manila, Flowers Forever, and Little Brazil.- Click Here for the Full Story

A Night Of Mayhem
PR reports: Jeffery "Mayhem" Thompson was truly larger than life. At 6-foot, 8 inches tall and tipping the scales at more than 350 pounds, his physical stature alone could support this statement. However, Mayhem was much more than a giant man. What he did with his life is a legacy that will shine on not only in the hearts of the people who knew and loved him, but the people who have yet to meet him. His is a story that continues to be told and will continue to inspire. A true Renaissance man, he was also a live actor at the Scarborough and Texas Renaissance Festivals, and a television actor for Ruffles Potato Chips and 7-11 commercials. He even appeared as a supporting actor on the hit series Walker Texas Ranger. He was a radio shock jock sidekick for KEGL, a musician, a Dallas club bouncer, a personal bodyguard for celebrities and rock-n-roll royalty, and head of security for the heavy metal band Damageplan.

Sadly, on December 8, 2004, while on the road in Columbus, Ohio with long-time friends Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul Abbott and the rest of the Damageplan crew, Mayhem's life was taken away from us when a crazed gunman ran onto stage, senselessly attacking and killing guitarist Darrell Abbott. Mayhem was on the attacker in less than a second. Regardless of the 4 shots which were already fired, he was committed to protecting his friends and the audience from the armed killer. During the struggle, the killer fired two fatal shots at point blank range. Jeffery "Mayhem" Thompson died a hero, placing the safety of others ahead of himself. He fell with two other heroesaudience member Nathan Bray and venue security member Erin Halk, who bravely took to the stage to give assistance and subdue the killer. The rampage finally ended when first responding police officer James Niggemeyer shot and killed the attacker.

Now we pay tribute to Jeffery "Mayhem" Thompson, celebrating both his life and the lives of Darrell Abbott, Nathan Bray, and Erin Halk. Mongo Production and MJS Music Publications present "A Night Of Mayhem." This event will feature live music by 6 bands, including Hillbilly Orchestra, Mother Truckin' Skull Diggers, Texas Hippie Coalition, and Mark John Sternal. Special guests include: Seth Thompson, Officer James Niggemeyer, and rock author and photographer Chris A.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Ditto Does it Again
PR reports: On Sunday 17th June 2007 Ditto made chart history again by getting Koopa's follow-up single in at number 21 in the UK Top 40. Ditto Music made chart history in January 2007 by putting the first unsigned band into the UK Top 40. The single by Essex band Koopa' debuted at number 31. Ditto's digital marketing strategies were key in the success of the single and their unique services helped the band to once again prove that independent music has a voice and needs to be heard.

Ditto Music began as two musicians/industry workers who believed that too much independent music was being ignored. Artists are always chasing the ever-elusive 'Record 'Deal' and more and more of the chart is what the majors give us. Plenty of unsigned artists want to release a record - but there was never (until now) anything in place to do that.

It is fair to say that Ditto revolutionised the industry - the usual business model of unsigned artists chasing labels has finished. Artists can release what they want, when they want, where they want and on their own terms. Ditto are still the ONLY company in the UK to offer this service. Ditto are also set to launch their own e-commerce site exclusively for their artists and labels on 25th June 2007 making them the first distributor to do so.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
