Ill Nino Week: Day 3
antiMusic reports: Ill Nino are back with a new album on a new record label. The band are really fired up for this next chapter in their story and with their new album, 'Enigma,' hitting stores this week we asked frontman Cristian Machado to pick his five favorite tracks from the CD and tell us about each one. Here is Cristian with today's song "2012":

"2012" is a song about astrology and astrological descent. The title might hint at the Maya prophecy which predicts the end of the world as we know it but, it really is a song about our origin and our relation to the stars.

You can hear some tracks from the 'Enigma' CD, grab tour dates and more - right here

Kanye Married?
antiMusic reports: We won't make any gold digger jokes but for the people that might care about the marriage status of a pop/rap star, here is SFGate.com with the story: Rapper Kanye West and his longterm girlfriend Alexis Phifer are reportedly husband and wife after wedding in secret last month.

The "Gold Digger" star, who proposed to Phifer during a romantic Italian vacation in 2006, is alleged to have exchanged nuptials with the designer while holidaying in Europe in February. The couple was spotted in France attending catwalk shows during Paris Fashion Week, which ended on March 2.

If reports by MediaTakeOut.com are true, West would have achieved his aim of having a small private wedding away from the glare of the media. - more on this story

RIP NME?
Times Online reports: Last week's biggest-ever New Musical Express awards show at London's O2 Arena should have been a triumph for Britain's longest-serving rock weekly. It was, says the Editor, Conor McNicholas, "one of the greatest nights on my life" watching Klaxons, Bloc Party, Kaiser Chiefs and Manic Street Preachers play to 15,000 indie/rock fans.

But there were glum faces and dark mutterings among the assembled media insiders. One key reason for this gloom was the magazine's circulation figures for the second half of 2007. Averaging around 64,000 per issue, they are the lowest ever, and a steep decline on previous years.

Given NME's growing profile online, on TV, at festivals and branded tours, these figures seem a strange and bitter pill. Some industry commentators are even speculating that the print version could close within months. "Who reads the NME then?" Ricky Wilson of the Kaiser Chiefs singer asked pointedly. - more on this story

Avril Comicbook
antiMusic reports: Avril is merching herself out like a true punk rawk sk8tr gurl! It seems like she is competing with KISS on imagining new ways to con fans out of their money. Jam! has the story on the latest scheme: Avril Lavigne's catty hit single, "Girlfriend," has been turned into a 92-page comic book.

Titled "Avril Lavigne's Girlfriend: Sleight of Hand and Heart," the comic tells the story of the sweet boy Dylan, his superficial girlfriend Layla and the misfit Marta who knows there's a secret darkside to Layla.

Lavigne's MySpace page says the tale is inspired by last summer's hit single, "Girlfriend," in which the boppy refrain declares, "Hey, hey, you, you, I don't like your girlfriend/ No way, no way, I think you need a new one." [Wow! Avril is such a lyrical genius!] - more on this story
