.
The Kinks' Ray Davies Knighted By Queen Elizabeth was a Top 3 story on Tuesday: (hennemusic) Ray Davies of The Kinks has been knighted for his service to the arts as part of Queen Elizabeth's annual New Year Honours list. The rocker was named among a lengthy list of UK citizens who were recognized for their work and contributions to society, including tennis star Andy Murray, Oscar-winning actor Mark Rylance, actress Naomie Harris, Vogue editor Anna Wintour and former Spice Girls singer Victoria Beckham. "Initially I felt a mixture of surprise, humility, joy and a bit embarrassed," said Davies in a statement reported by the BBC, "but after thinking about it, I accept this for my family and fans as well as everyone who has inspired me to write." It's the second UK honour bestowed upon The Kinks frontman, who was initially awarded the CBE - Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire - by the Queen in 2004. - here.
