Americana star Tia McGraff recently released her new album "Stubborn In My Blood" and to celebrate we asked her to tell us about the title song. Here is the story:

There's a lot of talk about diversity these days. I love it! My
grandparents immigrated to Canada from Transylvania in 1930. My mom's family immigrated from Scotland many years ago after the Scottish
Clearances. Needless to say, being Canadian of Transylvanian-Scot
descent, I have a stubborn streak in me.

One day, my husband (partner in music) and I were on the road having an
"intense fellowship" moment and I think Tommy called me difficult. LOL. I said, "Tommy, I'm Transylvanian Scot! Stubborn's in my blood." Tommy laughed and said, "we need to write that."

Flash forward a few months later and we're writing for my new cd when
we thought of this title. It just fit with the diversity and reclaiming
our strength message. We decided to keep in the European feel and gave
it a Celtic/rhythmic feel. We recorded the track from the ground up in
our studio and played all the instruments.

I just love this song and the joy it brings around the world! We
launched the new cd in the UK and had a blast playing Stubborn In My
Blood in Scotland. In fact, it was in Nairn, Scotland where my mom's
family originated from.

Every song has a story and Stubborn is perhaps one of my favorite stories. I truly hope it inspires other songwriters to claim their roots
and write about their family tree.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!
