And
the Grammy goes to
|
antiMusic reports: Egotistical proclamations
aside, Kanye West didn't get his wish as Bono and company took home the
Album of the Year honors at the 48th Annual Grammy Awards on Wednesday
for their album How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb. In total U2 took
home 5 awards to add to their collection. Record of the year went to Green
Day for "Boulevard of Broken Dreams".
Mariah Carey was the favorite going into
Wed night, but U2 made her settle for 3 awards. Ironically the same number
of awards that same U2 album won at last year's awards. To add insult to
injury she was awarded her 3 Grammys off camera.
System of a Down took home the Hard Rock
Performance Grammy for "B.Y.O.B." while Slipknot nabbed the Metal one for
"Before I Forget". Meanwhile The White Stripes' "Get Behind Me Satan" won
for Alternative Music Album. [see full story for a list of all the winners]

Sex
Pistol Vs Green Day |
Contact Music reports: SEX PISTOLS frontman
JOHN LYDON has lashed out at rockers GREEN DAY, accusing them of stealing
the term 'punk'.
The singer - who performed as JOHNNY ROTTEN
- claims the American band has reduced a political movement into a simple
musical style.
He says, "Don't try and tell me Green Day
are punk. They're not, they're plonk and they're bandwagoning on something
they didn't come up with themselves. I think they are phony."[John was
in rare form, see the full story for more of his rant]-

Spitzer
Vs Radio |
FMQB reports: ABC News is reporting that the
focus of the two-year-long payola investigation by New York attorney general
Eliot Spitzer is turning to the nation's nine largest radio conglomerates.
In an interview with ABC News correspondent Brian Ross, which will air
on Primetime Live Thursday night, Spitzer says that evidence he has gathered
clearly shows some of the radio conglomerates have participated in the
illegal practice of accepting payments from record companies and middlemen
in exchange for airplay.[see full story for more]- Click
