Poison of Love?
sleazeroxx.com reports: VH1 is casting for a new show that sounds a lot like Flavor of Love, but that will star an still unidentified rock star from the 1990s who will select a partner from a group of women. It's those women that VH1 seeks.

Idolator unearthed the casting call (that's not yet on the network's own poorly-updated web site) that asks women who want to "compete for the love" of this lead singer to apply. the casting call insists that this is not some washed-up, old, B-list rock star; instead, he's still touring. Idolator originally speculated that the rocker could be the Counting Crows' Adam Duritz, Third Eye Blind's Stephan Jenkins, Smasmouth's Steve Harwell, or Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst.

However, the site reported yesterday that it "received multiple tips that the frontman in question is actually Bret Michaels of Poison," even though his band "is not only forever entwined with the '80s."[from the casting call info (at the full story link) it sounds like Fred Durst may be a better call, but if so shouldn't they be casting men?]- Click Here for the Full Story

David Martin Debut
PR reports: Astonish Entertainment will release David Martin's self produced debut album, Something in Your Eyes, nationwide on February 6th, 2007. Something in Your Eyes, Martin's self-produced debut album, reaches for and attains a lush romanticism that is utterly free of irony and self-consciousness, while offering elegant melodies, dramatic transitions and one memorable chorus hook after another. All of these virtues are dramatically apparent on "Something in Your Eyes", his first single. [listen at the full story link]

Recall the classic hits of the '70s and '80s, presented by such craftsmen of the lost art as Billy Joel and Sting, and you realize that David Martin has picked up where these artists left off a quarter century ago. The company David keeps on the record is also testament to talent of this striking new artist. The album was mixed by Jeff Juliano (John Mayer, Dave Matthews Band, Jason Mraz), and David surrounded himself with a group of A-list players including Neil Robins (Dirt Poor Robins) and distinct drummer Manu Katché (Sting, Peter Gabriel).- Click Here for the Full Story

Meliah Rage Overkill Metal Church
PR reports: Hot on the heels of the just-released 'The Deep and Dreamless Sleep,' Boston metallists Meliah Rage has just secured a month's worth of dates opening for one of the founding fathers of thrash metal, Metal Church. The tour will also include a January 29th date at BB Kings Blues Club in New York City, which will see another thrash metal co-creator, Overkill, added to the bill. "We're really excited about this opportunity to tour with METAL CHURCH," says guitarist Jim Koury. "We've been fans of theirs since the beginning, and then when we toured together in 1989 we had a great time. Our music has been compared to theirs since our first reviews were published, and even now, 17 years later, I'm still honored to share the stage with them." Meliah Rage first burst on the scene in 1985 with 'Kill to Survive,' and have been riffing and rolling ever since. 'The Deep and Dreamless Sleep' is their seventh release over all, and third for Screaming Ferret Wreckords[see full story for dates]- Click Here for the Full Story

Lillian Axe Return
PR reports: After an extended hiatus that left many fans wondering if they'd ever see the group up and running again, melodic metallists Lillian Axe has risen from the ashes and are preparing their first all-new studio album since 1993's highly regarded Psychoschizophrenia.' Led by founding guitarist Steve Blaze, Lillian Axe earned the respect of 'Headbanger's Ball' viewers coast to coast with such releases as 1988's self-titled debut and 1992's 'Poetic Justice' -the latter of which saw the band turn a blind eye to the then-burgeoning grunge sound and stick to their stylistic guns. Now signed to Metro ity Records - a division of Screaming Ferret Wreckords http://www.screamingferret.com/ and distributed by Fontana/Universal -Lillian Axe plans to issue the as-yet-untitled new platter in 2007. "After having been signed to four different labels in our history, we learned a lot about what a label should provide and what to look for in a relationship with one," explains Blaze. "What we wanted now was hard work and a label that understands what Lillian Axe was about and what we were trying to accomplish. We are a different breed of animal and not always easy to put in a nice little package with a bow on top. I met Tim Koukos through my longtime friend and associate Chip Ruggieri whose opinions I greatly value. He said he had found the perfect home for Lillian. Tim immediately was straightforward and told me of his label and plans for the future."- Click Here for the Full Story

A New Testament Comp
PR reports: Testament's classic late '80s/early '90s period has been well documented over the years by several compilations. However, the group's latter era has thus far slipped through the cracks as far as compilations go. In February, this will change, as 'The Spitfire Collection' will be issued.

Consisting of tracks from such Spitfire/Testament titles as 'The Gathering,' 'Demonic,' 'Live at the Fillmore,' 'First Strike Still Deadly,' and 'Live in London,' the fourteen track set chronicles an era that ultimately saw the original Testament reunite for a successful 2005 tour. As a result, 'The Spitfire Collection' features both live versions of such Testament classics as "Practice What You Preach," "Over the Wall," and "Souls of Black," as well as such oft-overlooked studio tracks as "Careful What You Wish For" and "The Burning Times." With such bands as Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax introducing the world to thrash metal during the 1980's, Testament was one of the few second wave thrash bands to make a strong impression on the charts - resulting in such renowned releases as 1988's 'New Order,' 1989's 'Practice What You Preach,' 1990's 'Souls of Black,' and 1992's 'The Ritual.' Shaw Blades Delay
PR reports: The album release date for INFLUENCE (VH1 Classic Records) by Shaw Blades-led by Styx/Damn Yankees guitarist/vocalist Tommy Shaw and Night Ranger/Damn Yankees bassist/vocalist Jack Blades--has been moved to March 6.

Originally scheduled for February 20, INFLUENCE is the duo's first album since their recently re-released 1995 debut, HALLUCINATION. Like the debut--and unlike their history-carving decades as icons in the more hard-rock minded Styx, Night Ranger and Damn Yankees--the latest release is rooted in acoustic guitar and organic production, harvesting a decade of musical influences into 11 tracks (on which Blades and Shaw played all the music except for drums and the occasional keyboards). With classics from the '60s and '70s including the Mamas and the Papas' "California Dreamin'," Buffalo Springfield's "For What It's Worth" and Steely Dan's "Dirty Work," INFLUENCE offers a track-by-track chronology of the musical era that helped define modern rock. Stay tuned for news about the band's upcoming U.S. tour, which is currently being confirmed for March and April.- Click Here for the Full Story
