Stroke Police Chase
CMJ reports: Albert Hammond Jr.’s tour bus was caught in the middle of a high-speed chase earlier this week, but according to reports, it was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Hammond’s bandmate Marc Philippe Eskenazi explained on the band's MySpace page that, after they left a Texas show January 20, "[i]t turned out that the cops had been chasing a suspect in a pickup truck in a high speed chase a la OJ Simpson since the Texas state border. It seemed that the pickup was going to get away until he came into contact with (sic) youknowwho (us)."

Apparently the truck spun out into the side ramp after hitting the bus and the absconders were promptly arrested. This isn’t the first adversity the band has faced while on the road [see the full story for that and also upcoming dates] - Click Here for the Full Story

Motown Vs Dreamgirls
TMZ reports: Smokey Robinson took a swipe at Beyonce, Jamie Foxx and Eddie Murphy over what he perceives are inaccuracies in the hit movie "Dreamgirls."

On today's NPR "Morning Edition," Robinson said he is "very upset" over the "false information" in the film. Talking about the character modeled after Motown founder Berry Gordy, Robinson said, "Nobody was paying us. So he (Gordy) borrowed $800 from his family's fund and started Motown so that we could be paid. And for him to be maligned and made out like this villainous character is very, very, very offensive to me."[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

A Vulgar Display of Power Release Set
DiR reports: We just got an update from MJS Music Publications and 'A Vulgar Display of Power: Courage and Carnage at the Alrosa Villa' is set to be released on April 14, 2007. Here is a little bit about the book from the press release and what you can expect: Could this be the most important book ever written about Heavy Metal? Mistress Juliya, formerly of Uranium on Fuse called "A Vulgar Display of Power: Courage and Carnage at the Alrosa Villa" a "beautiful thing" for metal fans.

Over the span of 14 months, author Chris A. has researched the people, places and circumstances leading to the horrific murders of beloved guitarist, Dimebag Darrell Abbott, bodyguard Jeffery "Mayhem" Thompson, professional roadie Erin Halk and fan, husband and father, Nathan Bray. The result is an insightful, thought provoking book that induces a powerful range of emotions. While the book explores the background and motive of the killer who callously took the lives of these four innocent people, the focus goes far beyond the specifics of the crime. "A Vulgar Display of Power" crosses many genres; its part rock 'n' roll history, part true-crime and part biography. The result is a modern-day inspirational chronicle of good versus evil. At times graphic in its content, its intention isn’t to shock or sensationalize, but rather to clearly articulate the raw courage and selflessness of those who paid the ultimate price. Above all, the author placed great emphasis on recounting the events with accuracy and taste. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Gun To Axl's Head
C.C. Banana reports: As an epilogue to his 2006 Bananiversary Celebration, rock & roll comic C.C. Banana has interviewed all 5 members of Twisted Sister. In the last of this series of holiday-themed interviews, C.C. Banana speaks with Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider about their current album "A Twisted Christmas," the possible future of the band and a number of Dee's outside projects. Here is an interesting story Dee had to tell about how a promoter got Axl on stage. [see full story for the full interview including more Axl stories, Strangeland 2 and more]

Dee:.. We hear all kinds of stories from promoters, stuff most people probably don't even know about. A lot of times, Twisted Sister will come to town soon after Guns N' Roses has played there. Or Rose N' Roses, as I like to call them!... Another really good one was told to us by a promoter in Spain. Axl was running a couple of hours late and he still wasn't ready to go on stage. Naturally, the crowd was getting restless. We were told that one of the promoters actually pulled out a gun and put it to the head of Axl's tour manager! He said that he would literally shoot the tour manager if Axl did not get on stage! Remember my theory about putting a gun to Axl's head? Well, I guess it also works if you put a gun to the head of someone Axl cares about, because he was on stage within 15 minutes! This apparently did not make the press, but we were there the next night and the promoters told us about it.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Joel Madden Beat Up By Another Poser?
DiR reports: The Superficial has posted a rather entertaining video clip of a supposed fight between Joel Madden of Good Charlotte and Shifty "What Happened To My Career" Shellshock of Crazy Town. You remember Crazy Town? The dorks that acted all gansta while signing a really really really really really really really really really really lame song called "Butterfly"? The site says they have no idea how old the video is but since Crazy Town's fifteen minutes were cut short to five minutes a few years ago it may be a bit old since Shifty [yes, that's the name the bozo goes by] isn't likely to much access to hang outs of the stars. Hawthorne Heights Fire Manager
punkbands reports: Hawthorne Heights has fired their manager John Germanario and booking agent Jeremy Holgerson. Below is a message from Eron of Hawthorne Heights in response to HitsDailyDouble's recent article about the band parting ways with their manager and booking agent:

"Don't believe the hype, especially from HITS Daily Double (the only "news" site that didn't pick up our story on us suing Victory, because Tony is a paying advertiser, but did pick up Tony's countersuit). The decision to terminate our agreement with our booking agent and management was purely ours and not due to poor legal counsel as HITS and Tony would have you believe. We made the decision because we want a fresh start in every sense of the word. New label, new management, new booking, new record and more. When a football team fires the head coach, all support staff are let go as well. Same idea applies to us.
