God Forbid Enter Studio
PR reports: New Jersey's metal titans God Forbid entered the studio this week with longtime producer Eric Rachel (Atreyu, The Dillinger Escape Plan) to begin tracking their new full-length album.

This new effort is the follow up to the group's most successful offering yet, IV: The Constitution Of Treason, and the depth and diversity on this disc is easily going to position the band as of one the most innovative bands within the genre. This is an entirely new God Forbid that have matured beyond their years and are now more focused than ever before.

Doc Coyle (guitars, vocals) states: "Here we are! We have begun recording the new GOD FORBID album at Trax East in South River, NJ with Eric Rachel. Everyone in the band is really focused on this record and super excited about the songs. We did a very in depth pre-production for the last 2 weeks, where a lot of kinks have been worked out. There is more preparation for this album and any previous one. We have to give serious thanks to Steve Lagudi, who brought an entire studio to John's house to record pre-pro, and busted his ass engineering and tracking for two weeks. The material is varied and challenging, and I definitely feel another shift in the trajectory of our sound. We will be doing a studio blog keeping everyone posted about the progress, and also video taping as much as possible." - Myspace page

Idol Jon Peter Lewis Goes Soph
PR reports: [we have nothing to do with the hype in this press release] Jon Peter Lewis called for "a little less conversation, a little more action," on his star-making 2004 American Idol turn, and today, he's heeding that advice. Jon Peter Lewis is primed for a major pop breakthrough courtesy of sophomore album Break the Silence, slated to drop June 3rd.

The first single set to release digitally on all major digital service providers on March 18th, is the title track, an assured, infectious mid-tempo cut that recalls equal parts Ben Folds, Duncan Sheik and vintage Beatles.

Emotionally charged and overflowing with brainy pop hooks, "Break The Silence" finds Lewis offering the offbeat wit and inviting persona that made him an Idol cult favorite. Produced by Chris Garcia (Santana, Michelle Branch) and featuring the talents of drummer Kenny Aronoff (John Mellencamp, Indigo Girls) and guitarist Nick Lashley (Alanis Morissette, Natasha Bedingfield), Break The Silence is the sound of a talented young artist on the rise. - listen to the title track

Midnight Movies Nights
PR reports: Midnight Movies follow their sophomore LP Lion The Girl with the Nights EP, due digitally March 11 on New Line Records, a combination of their retrospective discography re-mixed and the surreptitious gratification derived from the live experience.

Lion The Girl proved Midnight Movies owned their own brand of "psychedelic pop," lead by Olivier's crystalline voice, both chilling and mysterious, coasting over a sprawling wall-of-sound. On this 6-song EP, the quartet revisits two LP tracks, re-mixed and dance-floor ready, and adds live favorites. Nick Zinner (Yeah Yeah Yeah's) reworked "Souvenirs," bringing a punky-electro urgency that effectively juxtaposes front woman Gena Olivier's bewitching vocals. Meanwhile James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins) injected "Patient Eye" with steady drumbeats and breaks, propelling the originally steady song into a frenzy.

Nights Tracklisting: 1) "Nights In White Satin" 2) "Should Have Known" 3) "Souvenirs (Nick Zinner Remix)" 4) "Stormy Eyes" 5) "Patient Eye (James Iha Remix)" 6) "Mes Reves de Satin" - Myspace page

.... Road Trip: Arizona at Sea: Cruisin' to Ensenada
Music is always a big part of the cruising social scene and the Monarch of the Seas features a wide variety of entertainment- sensuous Latin grooves, dueling pianos, ballroom music and a pulsating disco. And when Arizona is at sea, rock'n'roll! - Read the full Arizona at Sea: Cruisin' to Ensenada Road Trip article

.... Arise and Ruin - The Final Dawn
Sadly, The Final Dawn doesn't really go anywhere. It's the same riff rehashed and nothing about Arise and Ruin can be considered thrash. The songs are the same, the vocals are too upfront in the mix, and the drums can barely be heard. This album sucks. - Read the full Arise and Ruin - The Final Dawn review
