Smashing Pumpkins Cover Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Hole, on Tour
. At the opener in Portland, Oregon, the band covered David Bowie's "Space Oddity" as well as "Malibu," a Hole track co-written by Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan in 1998. The Pumpkins are calling this an "acoustic-electro" tour and stripped down renditions from their own catalog and artists' they admire affirm that goal. As an encore, the band played "Angie" by The Rolling Stones. Before the show, opening act Liz Phair tweeted that the soundcheck gave her "chills." Watch some footage from the Portland opener here.
