Fatal Stagedive
NME reports: The LEEDS music scene is in shock after a singer died following an onstage accident.

Patrick Sherry, frontman with the up-coming band Bad Beat Revue, was injured after he fell from the stage during the band’s set at city’s The Warehouse last week (July 20).

Sherry was attempting a spectacular set-closing jump but fell short and landed on the floor, injuring his head.

The Club NME night was immediately halted and the venue closed while the singer was taken to hospital. He later died of his injuries at 3am.

Love Vs Grohl
Blabbermouth reports: Though some have labeled Dave Grohl of the FOO FIGHTERS the "nicest guy in rock," Courtney Love would beg to differ.

"Dave gets to walk away unscathed and be the happy guy in rock, when he's one of the biggest jerks," Love says in the August issue of Spin, on newsstands Friday. "He's been taking money from my child for years."

Sony Payola
Audio Aggression reports: New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer has announced an agreement to halt pervasive "pay-for-play" in the music industry. Sony BMG Music Entertainment has agreed today, July 25th, to stop making payments and providing expensive gifts to radio stations and their employees in return for "airplay" of the company's songs and will pay $10 million in order to settle a year long investigation by New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer. The $10 million will be distributed to programs aimed at music education and appreciation in the state of New York.

The inducements for airplay came in several forms including the following: Outright bribes to radio programmers, including expensive vacation packages, electronics and other valuable items; contest giveaways for stations' listening audiences; payments to radio stations to cover operational expenses; retention of middlemen, known as independent promoters, as conduits for illegal payments to radio stations; and payments for "spin programs," airplay under the guise of advertising. Lamest Songs Special
We're taking a break over the next couple weeks from our Artist Top Five lists to bring you the 101 Lamest Songs of All Time. Our writers and readers were asked to nominate the songs for this special and we've compiled the nominations into our definitive 101 Lamest Songs of All Time list.

Over the next two weeks we'll be rolling out the list each week day. We're starting backwards with final 10 and will be working our way back. Also to do something a little different we'll also be revealing one song from the Top 10 each week day in the Day in Rock report with comments on why each song was selected and came out at the top of the lame list.

7) Sweet Child of Mine - Sheryl Crow
A cover that was so incredibly bad that it inspired a movement to ban all cover tunes (not really, but it should have).  This may be the real reason why the new GNR album has been delayed; Axl is still recovering from hearing this song butchered so badly.

Click Here to find out which songs landed in the 31-40 slots and to post your comments and submit artists for the next Lame list.
Wait there is more!
