Blabbermouth reports: Sunday Mirror reports
that Robert Plant has turned down an extra £100 million (approximately
$200 million) fortune to take LED ZEPPELIN on a world tour.
The rock legend wants to concentrate on
his new partnership with country singer Alison Krauss... spelling the likely
end of the famous band. A band source reportedly said: "Despite the enormous
offer, the decision did not come down to money.
"They always said they would do the one-off
show and then see how they felt. Jimmy [Page] had enjoyed the concert in
December enough to want to tour. He argued they still had something to
offer. He likes the idea of another chapter in the band — the grown-up
tour. John [Paul Jones] sided with Jimmy. He loved making music with the
others again. But Robert wanted to leave last year's concert as their legacy.-

antiTorial reports: My backside is stinging
a bit having just been raped by the Ticketmaster monopoly. The problem
with their monopoly is glaringly apparent when you are charged 75% over
the face the value of tickets after Ticketmaster gets done adding all of
their various fees.
I logged on to their site at 10:00 am hoping
to score orchestra seats to Iron Maiden's upcoming concert in Irvine. Of
course by 10:00:25, after filling out all the fields on the form, all of
the orchestra seats were gone. (Check scalper sites later today for those)
Since the orchestra seats were the same price as the lodge and lower terrace,
I opted to get two $20 lawn seats since you can still see pretty well on
the lawn at Irvine Meadows (I refuse to call it by it's corporate sellout
name).
So I submit my order and the screen with
all the various Ticketmaster monopoly taxes comes up and low and behold
my $40 worth of tickets had suddenly become $70.45. If you failed math
that's 75% in additional charges (I opted for the free mailing). To add
insult to injury they tried to sell me insurance on top of what they already
bilked me for. - more

Metal Underground reports: [We're including
this on the off chance it may be true. But read with a pound of salt.]
According to Pr-inside.com, sources tell the National Enquirer [Eddie Van
Halen] checked himself into a clinic near San Antonio, Texas, so he could
detox for a week after a furious backstage bust-up in Florida with his
17-year-old son and bandmate Wolfgang.
An insider says, "It was the big what-if
of the tour - whether Eddie could stay sober. Wolf hates it when his dad
drinks. He knew Eddie was drunk onstage that night, and was acting cold
to him, which set Eddie off. Eddie went beserk and started yanking guitar
cables from the pedal boards and throwing cigarettes around onstage.
"At the end of the concert, Eddie was so
mad at Wolf, he punched the amp speaker, knocking it over." Van Halen enjoyed
a stint in rehab last year (2007), which delayed plans for the comeback
tour.- more

idolator reports: As week one of Crowesgate
draws to a close, we've heard from a lot of people regarding Maxim's decision
to run "previews" of upcoming Black Crowes and Nas albums as actual reviews
despite those albums being unavailable to critics and just plain unfinished,
respectively.
Going on record with the LA Times, [the
author of said "previews"] Peisner claims his Maxim higher-ups did assign
him to write previews, and he only found out they had been bumped to the
reviews section when the issue hit the stands.
While anyone who writes professionally
knows how little control you can have over your own words once they're
in the hands of an editor, the Times does note that the "previews" Peisner
was purportedly contracted to pen were written in a voice that sounded
kinda like opinion, opinion rendered by someone who had at least given
the albums a desultory spin or two, rather than a guy issuing an "educated
guess."- more

TMZ reports: Cops in Georgia have arrested
a 17-year-old boy Friday and and charged him with killing his mother, who
was a local sheriff's deputy, and his two small sisters. One of those little
girls was the daughter of rapper Juvenile.
Anthony Tyrone Terrell Jr. allegedly gunned
down his mother, Gwinnett County Sheriff's Deputy Joy Deleston, 39, and
her two daughters, Micaiah, 11, and Jelani, 4. Jelani was Juvenile's daughter.
In 2003, the rapper, whose real name is Terius Gray, was arrested for abandonment
of a dependent child after a DNA test determined he was the father.
Terrell, a sophomore at Central Gwinnett
High School, has been charged with three counts of murder and three counts
of aggravated assault- more

Reuters reports: The major music companies
have been resistant to lowering their price on CDs, but now they may be
dragged to that point: Wal-Mart, the largest retailer of music with an
estimated 22 percent market share, has proposed a five-tiered pricing scheme
that would allow the discounter to sell albums at even lower prices and
require the labels to bear more of the costs.
According to sources, the Wal-Mart proposal
would allow for a promotional program that could comprise the top 15 to
20 hottest titles, each at $10.
The rest of the pricing structure, according
to several music executives who spoke with Billboard, would have hits and
current titles retailing for $12, top catalog at $9, midline catalog at
$7 and budget product at $5.- more

AP reports: A new British Broadcasting Corp.
documentary claims Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger escaped an assassination
plot hatched in 1969 by the Hells Angels.
A program to be broadcast on BBC Radio
4 on Monday says the rock star was the target of the plot following a purported
dispute with the motorcycle gang over concert security.
Jagger had vowed not to use Hells Angel
members as bouncers following the death in December 1969 of an 18-year-old
fan at a notorious free performance at Altamont Speedway in Northern California-

antiMusic reports: Nine Inch Nail's Ghosts
I-IV was released 6:00 p.m. PST March 2, 2008 via NIN.com: a four volume
collection of 36 untitled instrumental tracks, nearly two hours of music,
recorded over a 10-week period last fall.
Ghosts I-IV was conceived as an experiment:
Following the conclusion of 2007's Year Zero album, alternate reality game
and touring campaign, Trent Reznor enlisted Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder
with help from Alessandro Cortini, Adrian Belew and Brian Viglione to create
spontaneous, impulsive soundtracks to daydreams with no agenda or release
date, only a self-imposed 10-week time limit. Rob Sheridan collaborated
with Artist in Residence (A+R) to create the accompanying visual and physical
aesthetic.
The end result is a wildly varied body
of work released in its entirety with no label-imposed limitations--musical,
physical or otherwise. - more

PR reports: British trio Muse will release
a live CD/DVD titled HAARP on April 1st. Filmed at London's Wembley Stadium
on June 17, 2007, the DVD captures the exuberant spectacle of the band
performing in front of a sold-out crowd of nearly 75,000 ecstatic fans,
while the CD features audio from the band's show on the previous night,
June 16th.
Both discs include tracks from their latest
album, Black Holes and Revelations, including Modern Rock chart hits "Knights
Of Cydonia," "Starlight," and "Supermassive Black Hole."
Muse's electrifying shows at Wembley demonstrate
the raw power and ambition of one of Britain's most successful bands. The
shows were heralded by the U.K. press: Kerrang! said of Saturday's show:
"What a gig. What a night. What a band," while The Guardian suggested that
"few are more suited than Muse to take on what Pele described as the 'cathedral
of football.'" Muse was the first band to play the recently rebuilt stadium,
which had previously played host to a number of prestigious musical events
over the years, including Live Aid in 1985 and the Nelson Mandela 70th
Birthday Tribute concert in 1988.- more

sfgate.com reports: Amy Winehouse has been
forced to take time off work after she was diagnosed with impetigo, a highly
contagious skin condition. [According to wikipedia: Impetigo (sometimes
impetaigo) is a superficial bacterial skin infection most common among
children age 2–6 years]
The troubled star sparked rumors she may
have been involved in a fight after she was photographed on Friday with
a painful-looking swelling on the side of her face.
But the 24-year-old's representative has
now confirmed her swollen face is down to a bout of impetigo and the singer
will have to spend time in isolation to stop the infection spreading. -

antiMusic reports: The Van Halen camp have
finally given us a small clue as to why a string of shows have been canceled.
Their statement suggests that Eddie Van Halen is suffering from some kind
of illness that has yet to be fully diagnosed. Eddie has successfully battled
cancer in the past, however the statement is short on details.
As a result a number of shows have been
"postponed" including the shows scheduled for this week. There was some
speculation the entire tour was axed and TMZ quoted unnamed sources on
Sunday saying the band had pulled the plug on the run. Here is the band
statement: The Van Halen concerts in Dallas, Cincinnati, Raleigh, and Baltimore
have been postponed. According to Eddie Van Halen's physician, he is undergoing
a battery of comprehensive medical tests to determine a defined diagnosis
and recommended medical procedures.
The March 3rd Dallas concert at American
Airlines Center has been rescheduled for Thursday, April 24, 2008; Cincinnati's
March 5th concert at U.S. Bank Arena has been rescheduled for Tuesday,
April 22nd; Raleigh's March 7th concert at RBC Center has been rescheduled
for Sunday, April 13th; and Baltimore's March 9th concert at 1st Mariner
Arena has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 15th.
