Lock Of David Bowie's Hair Sells For $18,750
.
(Radio.com) A lock of David Bowie's hair sold for $18,750. Reports leading up to the auction anticipated that it would go for a few thousand dollars, but no one expected it to sell for five figures. Heritage Auctions in Beverly Hills auctioned off two music-related pieces on Saturday (June 25). In addition to Bowie's hair, the company also sold Prince's iconic Yellow Cloud guitar for $137,500, Yahoo reported. Garry Shrum, the director for the auction house's music memorabilia, said, "As celebrity stage-used instruments go, this piece is as unique as Beethoven's piano or John Coltrane's saxophone."
