Private Prince Memorial Service Held In Minnesota
.
(Radio.com) Prince was remembered on Sunday (May 15), in a private ceremony at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Minnetonka, Minnesota. The 45-minute ceremony was an invitation-only event, according to the BBC. Hundreds of mourners attended, including Prince's friend Sheila E and members of his band, 3rdEyeGirl. Former Sly and the Family Stone bassist Larry Graham was also there and spoke at the memorial service. Graham first introduced Prince to the Jehovah's Witnesses faith and was a mentor up until the time of his death. The service began with the song "He Will Call," followed by an opening prayer. A quote from Prince on the program of the memorial read, "If I were to ever write down my life story, I could truly say with all the fame and glory, I was just a piece of clay in need of the potter's hand."
